Technically there is. The Atlantic Federation of Seed is based around the USA, has it's capitol in Washington DC. They commissioned the first line of GAT-X series from Morgenroete, and built the second series and the Strike Daggers themselves.

I strongly disagree, they've got a unified insectoid aesthetic, put the important/unique stuff on the shoulders, and are evolved from the technologies and ideas that came before them. What else are you going to think of when it comes to the mobile suits with beam rotors, or that rolled around on giant wheels with beam shields, or had giant wheels built onto them?

But that looks pretty cool. Insectoid mechs are an interesting design, and V was really good about unique weapons (the tires, the beam rotors, that weird railgun thing Victory had, the Shield Bits well before 00 happened, throwing mech parts at your problems, the original WoL, that stuff.), so a lot of its mechs stand out even before you get to things like "Giant robot dragon MS" or "motorcycle battleship".

Wing, for all its interesting designs, is definitely a step down from G, which is not-coincidentally where they took most of the designs from.

I suppose that comes down to whether you think helicopters or jets are better for mobile suit combat, but it's really a matter of taking advantage of the beam shield, which can be used as a shield, an offensive weapon, and a rotor. Imagine if they had done something like its predecessor, the Bawoo, where it'd feel more like a rehash, or it was just a mobile suit with a jetpack and wings like the Aile Strike ended up being.

For someone who didn't care for Wing that much I did like the OZ designs. There's a clear line of evolution from the Leo to the Virgo, and the way the innovations in the Vayeate and Mercurius were incorporated into it, very much a summation of its development line.

I'd say I like Katoki's proportions more. And prefer GotL Shenlong and GotL Altron (minus the coloring) over their TV counterparts, however the TV's versions are more effective (I mean GotL Shenlong can't even extend its arm).
Deathscythe Hell and Wing Zero are much better looking in the TV show.

Ehh, sorta debatable.

As I understand it, the Atlantic Federation contracted the military contractor known as Morganroete to build the initial 5 GAT-X Gundams. Design and technology were developed by EA, so that more or less means the concept and theoretical development of these 5 Gundams lies with the EA which is American.

Morganroete is based in Orb, which is a tiny but technologically advanced Pacific island nation that is more or less a stand-in for Japan (which no longer exists in this setting). Orb is building these Gundams because the Atlantic Federation, despite being part of the Earth Alliance world government, does not want to share this technology with its "ally" nations (normally they're not that friendly) and Orb/Morganroete has a space colony and military facility of its own they can base the 5 Gundams at for space testing. Morganroete agrees to it because they want to steal as much of the mobile suit and weapons technology as they can while they're building them, which they happily do.

Anyhoo, in the middle of the series it is stated in the show's dialogue that the Morganroete facility at one of Orb's islands is the "birthplace" of the Strike Gundam, and they can do any and all repairs for it. That would likely also apply to the other 4 Gundams. Less than ten episodes later, they actually do rebuild another Strike Gundam. Of course, since the EA originally designed the Gundams too, they are more than capable of building more of those Gundams for themselves. Which they do in some manga sidestory.

TL;DR it seems that there's mixed parentage here. Planned and designed in America, but tested and built by !notJapan.

You kinda didn't seem to have chosen the most representative series (Build Fighters and G certainly aren't, 0079 movies are obviously epitome gundam though), at least you started Universal Century with a good pick! What's the one you've liked?

In the end, it's just anime, the aim is definitely to have fun, not to have any sort of badge of merit. That said, SEED is definitely an entry with a lot of love and hate, especially because the main characters and the plot in general takes a bad turn around the last third, but the beginning is good anyway.

The only disappointment is none of the Wing Gundams installed defensors as an upgrade. The zero system was perfect for Funnels.

I think it's actually one of Wing's "strenght" that a good deal of upgrades aren't the typical ones (airplane backpack or funnels) of Gundam. The fact that funnels aren't anything but defensive and not the ever-again special weapons feel a bit refreshing. The Mercurius and the Virgo were already quite strong thanks to the defensors.

Same thing with the Gundam Zero who keeps changing hands, it was fun to see the ultimate ms being attributed to everyone plus the main villain at some point. It broke the formula of "one person, one ms", though ZZ already add that a bit.

I own the Deathscythe and Heavyarms. Both are pretty good. The Deathscythe is more pose-able as its weapons are lighter and it is an overall simpler design. The Heavyarms looks pretty cool in the alpha strike pose with all the doors open. The big ass gatling gun/shield looks amazing but is so heavy that you need to brace it. I have mine in a similar pose to this and had to get an action base to keep it upright as it is so top heavy.

No, Endless Waltz was weird because the flashbacks were all the kai or upgraded kits.

And then as I've said ZZ did that before even Victory with the titular gundam being "tried" by pretty much all of the gundam team at some point, even though the mc (Judau there, Heero in Wing) is still the main pilot of the ms, in the end.
