How many Gundams have actually used white V-fins since?

And out of all of those, only 7 or so are main character MSes that aren't mid-season upgrades (with one of them being of questionable canonicity).

I guess the Japs just think the yellow contrasts better. The original can't be perfect in every way, I don't think many (if any) use the grill vents on the sides of the head either, and even the mouth vents are becoming a thing of the past.

A promotional piece for the original anime had the Gundam with a yellow v-fin. I can't find the image on google, but I've seen it posted here before so hopefully somebody will. I assume that they thought they'd try the yellow on an actual design during Zeta.

we have official numbers for Odessa which would be one of the largest battles in the OYW.
In the Battle of Odessa the EFF deployed only 30 Mobile Suits, all of them RGM-79(G) GM Ground Type. Everything else was infantry, tanks, and fighters and 12 big trays. And Zeon only fielded around 100 mobile suits in Odessa.

Although admitedly Thunderbolt is the worst offender, the suits do look much more futuristic than the ones in 0079

What about the OYW MSVs and side stories(manga, games, etc.), which have some of crazy advanced suit?
I want to say Missing Link is pretty offensive on that front (Pale Rider), but I don't think it's the biggest offender.

You say samey, I say consistent. Part of the appeal of UC to me is that the designs tend to stay grounded and consistent, with Zeon providing contrast with it's unorthodox stream of experimental suits.

Shows like Wing and X try too hard to make every suit into a special snowflake.

Thunderbolt is as canon as any other series in the UC timeline (likely a bit more than others, being animated), with people saying it's an alternate history simply because it seems inconsistent with technology and troop numbers - no one with any official say has ever stated that it's an alternate timeline.

To compare, that would be like saying that CCA is non-canon because ZZ exists, the two not fitting together as easily as some would like.

Canon in Gundam is a mess, regardless.

Anon, the author himself said that he didn't care about fitting into the canon if it meant that he could write freely. Thunderbolt is essentially an Alt-UC.
