You say Sidonia is the only thing you have seen so far. What was it about Sidonia that you found most interesting/cool? Mecha is a wide genre with a bunch of different flavors. I won't know what to recommend to you unless I have an idea of what it is you like.

Id recommend Ghost in the Shell for transhumanism (with a focus on cyborgs and its affect on society).

I'd recommend Gunbuster and Gargantia for more space monsters.

You miiiiiight like Macoss. Very different in tone, but the later entries might be up your ally. While kind of out of order, I'd say try watching Macross Plus first. There are only a couple of little things you won't know going into it, and its only movie-length so you if you end up not liking it you didn't waste much time compared to a big long show. If you like it, go back and watch the original SDF Macross and do the franchise from the start.

Since you obviously don't have a problem with CG, and I'm guessing you have netflix, give a movie on netflix called Expelled From Paradise a try.

1. That's the joke, these series all have yuri scenes.
2. It's the yuri equivalent of a similar one but with lots of gay stuff.
