I'm working on a mostly text based evangelion not!xcom game that uses severely molested battletech mechanics

I think my ideal game would be a proper mechwarrior game with melee and jump jets that aren't shit and space politics
>>
A super robot video game. You could customize your own super robot with many options. Is it a combining robot? A transforming robot? Or a robot all in one piece. Also you get to color it, think of the Armored Core or Gundam Breaker 3 customization system. You also get to customize your base. Is it a lab that's underground? Or is it a flying ship? Or a submarine? And there will be a variety of weapons. Think of the Skyrim weaponry.
>>
>>15137907
Exactly that!
>>
I'm cool as long as the mecha customization is very extensive.
>>
Third person shooter with RPG elements, and the ability to enter/exit your mech at will, and to steal enemy mechs.

Also a lengthy SP campaign would be nice.
>>
>>15137901
A game about Gundam that was actually a suit (like Landmate or Marauder) instead of fucking giant robots, with Heavy Gear style of gameplay and customisation but with more refined space arc ala Shattered Horizon.
>>
Space based robot SIM a'la Starlancer/Free space with a branching campaign that changes as you complete/fail/ignore objectives that allows you to fight in and about space colonies and such, with a Gyrphs Era style aesthetic and 80s style space combat. The ability to bail out or exit your machine and fight in just a spacesuit would also be great, like in Battles one.
>>
>>15137919
So you want a Maschinen Krieger game
>>
>>15137901

>dream mecha game

one that isn't shit
>>
>>15137901
A fucking impossible one that has seamless space to earth entry/escape and is a near complete mech simulation where every dial, light, gauge, switch, and button in the cockpit does or means something, like a flight simulator for mechs.

That said what would I want to see out of something someone could feasibly make? An RPG with both ground combat and mech combat like a Xeno game but in a more traditional fantasy JRPG setting. You know castles and kings and our Hero and his party fighting dudes and monsters with medieval weapons, but also giant mech knights fighting other mech knights and giant monsters with giant mech swords and lances. But there are only so many mech knights out there and they're passed out hereditarily usually along with lordly titles to people of status. Losing one is like losing your lineage and home.
>>
>>15137901
My dream mech game would be a massive, genre mixing, non-linear real time grand strategy faction simulator RPG with ridiculously in depth mechanics and customization for every aspect of the faction the player leads, how they interact with other factions in the setting(war, diplomacy, trade, etc.) and the technology they use(Spacecraft, mechs, landmates, powered armor, infantry, etc)

Players could play as whatever sort of faction they want, at any scale, from space pirates, to mercenaries, to terrorists, to a megacorperation, to an entire nation, to the Earth Federation, with increasing complexity to controlling each one, and starting out small before gaining access to the larger sorts.

It'd become a first person tactical mecha simulator during combat, with the player controlling the highest ranking character in the combat scenario, giving orders to all the other characters they lead(the giving orders part being the main key to victory) while fighting in their own mech(or whatever they're using), if that character is killed or incapacitated the player is put in control of next highest ranking character, with a similar if less effective leadership system, there wouldn't be a hard failure state unless the player's entire faction is wiped out in the battle, meaning players could win a battle, lose but continue playing with losses, retreat, surrender, make truces, etc.

The combat mechanics themselves would have various types of units fighting on a large field of battle, the player character in whatever machine they may be using would control similar to how most FPS control, but with weighty, in depth mecha simulation, customization would play a very significant role in the performance of units(similar to Armored Core), damage taken from weapons would be rather high, using a system similar to War Thunder(no HP, complex module damage, realistic armor penetration meaning a lot of shots will bounce off or be stopped by armor, doing no damage), resulting in a more cautious and tactical sort of gameplay, but with high speed mecha action still being a viable option for good pilots.

Combat could take place under gravity or in space, with drastically different movement for each environment.

The games visual style would be relatively realistic looking graphically, with some 80s and 90s anime influence to the way things are designed, but no cartoony lighting and anime character proportions, mechanical designs would pretty much be a combination of Shirow Masamune and Yutaka Izubuchi.

The music to the game would be a subtle, atmospheric variety of synthwave.
TL;DR I want a Mount & Blade style game but sci-fi with a lot more depth and much more polished, I want to have long campaign where I can name my space nation Zeon and try to conquer the rest of the solar system through various means and lead my army into battle giving orders and fighting in a realistically simulated mecha.

Fuck, I spent way too much time typing that...
>>
EVE plus Space Engineers. The mechs and everything else are designed and built by players and either obtained on the open market or issued to you by a faction supply chain. Competition is as fierce between engineers as it is between pilots, even technical manuals of enemy subsystems are highly prized spoils and jealously guarded by intelligence services.
>>
>>15137901
Something a bit like Armoured Core with heavy customization and in-depth combat, but with a more engaging story (disclaimer: I have only played 4 and For Answer) and weightier, slower, punchier mecha. So striding through the remains of a (fully destructible) city and crippling enemy suits with weapons fire before closing in for the kill up close and personal, instead of zipping around the map at a billion miles an hour trying not to get shot.

What >>15137907 said sounds great too.
>>
>>15137901
A fast 2D or 2.5D fighting game, like Guilty Gear.
>>
>>15137982
Almost.

Just with more space ark and the suit looks more like Landmates but maybe with MK-like aesthetic on older suit models.

And most of big bipedal robo are restricted to experimentals.

What do you think of that person?
I would think you would form an idea first then will yourself to make it.
unless op is a shit with no imagination on a board for giant fighting robots.

>>15137901
An RTS, where you have a partisan squad and a mech. You have almost no reinforcements. Every mech needs fuel, ammo, etc. and can be repaired and captured.
You have to win the war by fighting against the bigger groups of hostiles by using the all means avalible - guns, knives, mechs, cannons, explosives and RPGs.

tl;dr Dougram game similar to Men of War

Give me Gundam Breaker / Armored Core style action, with SRW's series list, crazy build combos (You want a getter reactor in your gundam? Sure, go for it.)
a storyline, RPG mechanics, and an endless wave horde mode.
>>
>>15137901
An updated version of Artdink's Gundam games for PSP (Assault Survive) only with the "real flight" control option like Artdink's Macross games instead of forced 2d flight controls.

UC all the way up to G-Saviour, with eras for every other Gundam era (Assault Survive only had UC, SEED (not Destiny) and 00s1.

Also bonus stages like fighting Ideon in the ZZZ, finding the derilict Turn X in the Stargazer, Gunpla Battle Tournament Mode, SD Gundam Gaiden RPG, and beach volleyball mode.
>>
Think M&B Warband but with Dunbine size mechs that you can get in and out of during land battles and have aerial combat.
>>
>>15137901
A turn based tactics game with infinite replay-ability. So something like Battletech with a random mission generator for your campaign characters. Or random generated merc missions interlaced into a super long campaign.

I'd also really like a Starsiege remake or sequel.
>>

>>
Dwarf Fortress with FTL but Macross

The game consists of managing the crew and civilians of the Macross and trying to keep things from falling apart while you have your scientists research ways to fight the Zents

Valkyrie flying skills are trained through simulations and drill, and combat is simulated real-time, with each part of each ship, and each part of each pilot body susceptible to damage

SRW but a fighting game. The roster would be huge and all the mechs would retain their super moves and shit
>>
Not really a mecha game, but a Battlefield-style game using the troops and equipment seen in The Origin series would be pretty cool. The series has a lot of badass non-MS vehicles.
>>
Action game set on the ruined future Earth of Getter Robo series, like the one Ryoma saw in the OVA.

You can create your own pilot and fight with other junker mechs for better parts and getter energy.
Part Gundam breaker, part free-roam action game. With the ultimate goal to beat progressively bigger guardians and escape into space to join the getter fleet.
>>
>>15137901
A cooperative game where you either pilot component jets like Getter or smaller mechs like Voltron/Dancouga. You have to work together to fight off threats and coordination will be key, when larger threats appear you can merge into a signature mech and each pilot has tasks to just make things work (possibly the Daiguard dynamic of pilot, navigator, engineer). Possibly also make it dependant on resource management so you can't just always be a mech, but include an upgrade system that will have upgrades that increase your available time to operate combined.

Preferably you can also customize the mech cosmetically as well as functionally.
>>
A mecha piracy game with an emphasis on scavenging parts from other mechas. For example you could hit an enemy from long range with your RPG, but your likely to over load the reactor an you'll get nothing but scraps from it. But if you risk engaging in a melee you might cut off a full arm

A third person action shooter that has a ton of gun and power armor porn with intense firefights as the focus of its gameplay, kind of like warframe (without all of its retardations) and you sell your services to different factions for the right price. Each mission takes place on various planets can perform missions in a non-linear fashion. With each mission comes rewards in the form of space-cred or s-cred or whatever the fuck is hip these days. This money allows you to procure internal and external upgrades for said suit.
One example would be an upgrade that allows for faster handling of the suit. Or an upgrade that allows you to carry more ammunition into battle. Another facet of the game would be the PVP where players go into a colliseum of sorts and in universe the battles are broadcast through out the galaxy. So think roman gladiators but with suits of powered armor and heavy firepower.

Chromehounds/AC but as a new AU Gundam
3 factions
>Earth
>Colonies
>Mars
Mobile suits are mostly modular but are based on frames like ibo, so the frame will determine the customization and base performance
>Squads deploy from a warship that is player controlled
>the type of warship your squad has dictates how many ms can be deployed
Basically online plays out like the Neronimus War but space battles are a thing
>Each faction has different aesthetics and focuses in terms of performance
Game gets updated seasonally based on outcome of online war with new/different factions and higher performance suits
>players dictate the "story" with squads and players becoming part of canon

For more of an action vidya, something like a mixture of Armored Core and Soulslike genre.

For a story-driven game, let's say Dragon Commander style strategy with all the glory of Gihren's Greed.
>>
Have you seen that new Mechwarrior trailer? That, but faster-paced, with sleeker mech designs and less cringe-y dialogue/writing. I was almost for that game itself, but I'm completely turned off by the shitty tabletop nerd Western approach to those aspects.
>>
Had a dream where I was playing/living a mecha game where the protagonist was being flung across different universes that resembled varying mecha anime series. The ones I remember are

>You're a war hero in the waning days of a long-standing conflict
>You're a child soldier that's been called up because your side is losing
>You're a GM grunt on the side that is winning, but you're clearly fighting for the despots and fascists
>You're a prisoner forced to fight in a war that has long been an unwinnable stalemate
>You're a modern day civilian forced to use ancient mud golems to fight an alien threat
>You're a hybrid human/AI in a far future setting patroling the combined real/cyberspace. Very Tron-y, but gold and white and black instead of blue and black.

You spend the game trying to figure out why you keep getting thrown around these eras, whether or not you're traveling across alternate realities or a single timeline or somewhere in between. It was set up sort of like a cross between one of the bettee Gundam games and a Zero Escape game, and the theme was sort of the implications of the choices humanity makes across eons and within eras, with their particular moral relativity and whatnot.
>>
>>15137901
FUNNELS
>>
>>15137901
Something like Garry's Mod Spacebuild where you just build the robots completely from scratch.
>>
>>15137901
If you've never played Armored Core you should, its possible the best mecha game series out there. I would def make a sim but without the mission to mission structure, something open world or at least with an over world, and probably more rpg elements
>>
>>15149148
also It can be played first person or 3rd person but the 3rd person is a floating camera floating behind the mech (like an exceed orbit from AC) and it could be shot down and force you to go first person
>>
>>15137901
Take the G-Gen engine and the stupidly huge amount of units in it, and keep adding even more units, even/especially the super obscure ones. Remove or drastically reduce the grinding. Take the branching storyline from UC Mode in Gundam v Zeta Gundam, and make it even larger and even more ridiculous.

The game is a series of missions where beating the mission as normal keeps you on the canon path, but fulfilling secret objectives opens up branching paths. Part of the goal is to fill out the entire scenario chart. You're free to select any mission you want whenever.

I'd also be fine with a GvZG remake that didn't have such sluggish combat. I love the concept of UC mode, but seriously fuck that move speed.
>>
Total War game set in the OYW.
>>
>>15149538
We really need a total was game in a sci-fi setting.
I'm half hoping that after Warhammer they will get to WH40K.
>>
>>15137901
Dream mecha game would basically be Armored Core, except you also design your pilot (and there's fashion!) and it's in an open world you can explore to find missions/take part in quests.
>>
>>15137901
You know I was thinking about what my dream game would be.

>Its a AC4/ ZoE type game where the game speed is fast but there is heavy customization
>Well fast if you want it
>Mission based
>The pilot has stats that grow with how you play that you only get when you finish up a mission
>Mech stats are based off of parts and upgrades (+10)
>You go from underwater to Space and everywhere inbetween for missions
>Different types, want the Zeta? Sure in flight mode it plays like Ace Combat
>HEAVY character customization from 70's hair to modern, floof included
>You can get mech drops in missions, some are really fucking hard
>Each mission has a chance of an Ace showing up
>Ace's will fuck your shit up unless you are an Ace
>Higher the rank=Missions available + Money at the end of the mission
>How to gain ranks? Do fucking good in missoins
>Bosses are cool special snowflake, maybe even FUCKING HUGE mechs
>There is SOME sense of story, just not notable
>Can call in random mooks, online folks, Merc center Ace's as partners on missions. That will lower your score rank and money earned but you still complete the mission

So far that is what I have come up with.
>>
>>15137901
Something like Mount & Blade where you build a mercenary company with mechs, buy/salvage/capture customizable suits and the parts for them, start and build up bases, get support craft, train your pilots/crew and go from a ragtag band of dudes in salvaged junkers with stolen weapons doing grubby mercenary work to having an army of badass custom mechs and taking over your own territory

>>15137906
Aw Yeah!
>>
A game based mainly on melee combat with some asspull reason for no guns, like shields that can only be broken by other shields projected from a mech's body.
Based largely on 1-to-1 fights (can't decide between 1st or 3rd person) where the goal is to disable the enemy by removing limbs. Mech size should be at least big enough for a person to fit inside, but not too big or movement would get slow.
Since it's melee-focused, things like swords and knives are common and (like limbs) can be knocked off the enemy/out of their hands. Just like a real fight to the death however, you can still attempt to beat your opponent to death if you've lost a hand.

The more I think about this style of gameplay, the more I think it would be best in VR.
