Nothing how there is nothing built into the mechs themselves to make them better at combat. Its all purely handheld tools the mech is carrying.

This speaks of a multirole mechanical armor with hands such that it can do everything that a human can do, just bigger and better defended. An easy sales pitch for the company to send to such a megafauna infested wilderness like Pandora.

"Humans get stomped. Humans in space suits get stomped, no matter how much body armor they wear. You don't wanna get stomped? Walk around in one of these. It can do everything you can do, just at a bigger scale!"

From what we see in the movies they seem to only get a few things, like body stance, locomotion and maybe intelligence (the xenos from the second movie know they can stop the sentinel guns by cuting the power, while the one from 3 seems more animalistic).

Nothing about that fucking design makes any sense, for any purpose.

Too bulky, inflexible, and slow to be a versatile construction vehicle, and it lacks even basic protection for the pilot in case something falls on them during heavy duty work, so it's definitely not a civilian machine with guns attached to it, guns which look nothing like conventional large caliber weapons and seem to have been built specificly for it, making it seem like a military weapon.
As a military weapon it's one of the worst possible mech designs for combat, every bullet that hits it would break something, and again, bulky, inflexible, slow, the pilot is completely exposed, useless.
If it's just built from scrap they could at least put some basic fucking armor around the pilot, but no one could build that machine from random scrap anyways.

Not only is it an ugly, overdesigned, forgettable piece of shit with no style of beauty, there's no logical justfication for anything about it.

Will there ever be a western movie with mechs that look cool?

Pacific Rim came close with Cherno Alpha being pretty cool, but it was lacking something.

I thought they were cool. Mechs with their equivalent of a battle rifle (practically cannons) are a great combination. Tone fits the bill if I ever get Titanfall 2 but I heard they're unbalanced.
