I am literally just starting gundam and starting on Wing because it is the gundam i vaguely remember from Childhood. No clue about what the fandom is like so far but fyi I would recommend looking in the mirror because it took me 2 seconds visiting the board for the first time to know this would trigger ""true fans"" like yourself. Maybe the fandom would thrive more if people like you werent so pretentious?

By the way I'm enjoying Wing very much so far the only other Gundam I have experience with is Seed which I recall being on Toonami at one point and I thought it was boring as hell.

You can either watch production or chronilogical, i recommend 0079, 0083 stardust, Zeta, ZZ (if you choose to), Chars Counterattack and Unicorn after that its pretty much different timelines or universes so take your pick

Start with 0079 (i.e. the original series.) There's a Blu-Ray release with both sub and dub available.

I unironically agree. 00 was the first series I watched in full, and I doubt I'd have gone much past my first try if I had watched a less engaging series.

Many of the older works really are excellent, but they're harder for a modern viewer to get into without some existing connection to the franchise.

I think your best bet is to just dive in and see what you like. So long as you know what char newtypes, gundams, mobile suits, federation and zeon are you can probably manage your way through it.
