My theory is that they will pad the fuck out of 0079, Zeta, CCA, maybe ZZ and of course Unicorn in order to have a comprehensive story mode. That's why they added Ramba Ral and Kai. Other series will get maybe 1-2 suits just the main character basically and alot will be sold as DLC.

That sounds really out of character. They've almost always reused assets or at least heavily drew inspiration from previous versions of their games. There's been a ton of reuse from Gundam VS Gundam up until now, especially when it comes to movesets.

Also their console game campaign modes have always been lazy mission based things where story is neglected, cheaply made up, or lifted straight from the Gundam stories they are re-enacting. It's usually just the same arcade combat but with tweaked health bars, adjusted AI difficulty, low res models for uncommon units, and they spawn a lot of mooks and then "boss" type characters (normal units from the arcade mode) which have an enormous amount of HP.

I mean I love the 2v2 arcade combat, but they have never really bothered with a comprehensive story mode. The most comprehensive they got was back in the PS2 era with Federation VS Zeon and Gundam VS Zeta Gundam's story modes that let you explore "what if" scenarios for MSG and ZZ.

GVS is built for console so it isn't an arcade game ported. So they'll have time to make a real "story" mode.
