You realize books like Twilight exist, right? Not everything written is automatically superior. BTW there's a LOT of anime that's better written than say, most romance novels.

That's a flawed comparison. With very, very few exceptions, mecha anime is genre fiction rather than literary fiction, and should be judged accordingly.

There are plenty of mecha series out there which acquit themselves quite well in the writing department by comparison to the typical standards of genre fiction. Answer honestly - which do you think is better written: Fafner, or Twilight?
