The Koma Kage episode is seriously underrated. It calls people out for idealizing the past when the reality is that the past was just as shit as the present is. That's a lesson that more people could stand to learn, especially on this board where people have a massive nostalgiaboner for 80s shows which causes them to completely underestimate genuinely good recent anime. Like Concrete Revolutio.

Concrete Revolutio is generally about how the past wasn't really that great, despite everything looking more simple than it was.
Also, changes are really hard to accomplish.

Allegiances shifted, goals constantly changed, hopes were dashed, realism won. Banality and cynicism triumphs over dreams and desires to change the world.

Ultimately, everything is kinda hopeless.
You can see that in the finale between Jirou and Satomi.
No matter how satisfying the ultimate last punch that Jirou lands in that smug face of Satomi, in the end, it was Satomi who got the last laugh, defeating Jirou at the same time by injecting him with a pure lethal dosis of bio-destroyer.
Sure, Satomi is probably now suffering a fate worse than death by becoming the immortal fuel of Ultimapolis (which he wanted to subject every other superhuman to), but he still achieved all his goals.
The spiteful old man Satomi who mocks mecha, mocks superhumans, mocks dreams and hopes, mocks youth, succeeded over young idealistic revolutionary Jirou.

That is how a concrete revolution looks like.
It requires lots of self-sacrifice, and it can still utterly fail.

The only episode that was really out of order was episode 9 in season 1, though.
The one with the Endless Family, where the guy gets eaten alive by soldier ants and the family get melted by Optimus Prime, because it showed a Jiro who had already left the Bureau, and started opposing them.
Other episodes of course showed events that happened back then or events that would happen later, but only The Endless Family was firmly set in the transition period between season 1 and season 2.
