It definitely alludes to a victory, but doesn't straight up tell you. A strategic retreat could've also happened for example. I also don't really know how you expected someone becoming one with a machine designed specifically to destroy this enemy in particular was going to lose to said enemy.

If you have a problem with predictable outcomes in fights I feel as if you'll have a problem with Gundam as a whole.

The flashback trope has been used plenty before by other series and even in this season; I can see why you wouldn't enjoy it. I thought they did it in an okay way by having the atmosphere of the room be very tense before Orga starts his recount, almost trying to tell you that everything went downhill for the party

It's almost a Mirror Gurren Lagan, with a strong Simon that acts as a mentor and support for an insecure leader Kamina. It's with the other characters that i do not understand whether they have a role and a development forecast, or they are here just to do presence.

Pikachu was one of the few to have a development with shooting to a person and losing a friend, but his personal side story ended almost immediately.

I mean you can tell the animation directors tried. As another anon said, animating a fight in 3d space is hard. But it's pretty clear the animators just aren't skilled enough. The part where he jumped left and right was pretty dumb. The director also seems to never allocate enough frames for his staff to work with. Instead we get 10 second long shot still frames like when Mcgillis was talking to his fucboi.
