If Evangelion is considered a mecha show despite featuring giant fleshy humans, why isn't Shingeki?
because Shingeky ended up bein The Village
>>15016556
Where were the Eva's born?
I feel like if they are made of synthetic flesh that they are easily a Flesh Robot.
>>15016556
By the logic from that image, any show could be considered mecha.
Also, SnK doesn't have any actual robots.
>>15016556
Probably cause the fact that the evas aren't robots is a spoiler
>>15016573
Neither does Eva.it has A robot
>>15016556
The Evangelion units are mecha because they have mechanical implants that allow humans to pilot them. You can delete you absolute shit thread now, you blithering retard.
>>15016556
They're too human-looking. They don't fit the aesthetic, even though they are giant flesh-mecha. Maybe Reinier, though, the armor makes him look inhuman enough.
>>15016556
Evangelion uses the trappings of mecha to present itself as a mecha show and to enhance the reveal that the Evangelion units are more than biological mechs. The mystery of what they are runs for much of the show, but while it's being coy with the mystery it's presenting itself rather straightly as a mecha show so that in the end it is a mecha show even if the vast majority of the mechs are actually biological beings in armor. Shingeki no Kyojin does not do that. You could also argue the Eva armor is power armor, though really I wouldn't buy that and see it more as restraining armor whose only power is to constrain the beast and not enhance it.
>>15016573
He's not wrong. Biological beings are essentially armor for our genes, to transport them around and keep them safe from the environment while they do their own thing, replicating quietly. I think Dawkins even termed the body a machine in The Selfish Gene. It's still too broad a definition to be useful for the purposes of this board, but he's correct in a way all the same.
>>15016596
>You could also argue the Eva armor is power armor, though really I wouldn't buy that and see it more as restraining armor whose only power is to constrain the beast and not enhance it.
The Eva units literally have an engine inside their body that has be plugged in and powered by electricity.
>>15016556
evas aren't humans they're ultramans
RUR specifically has their robots as meat machines made from some undersea crap
>>15016599
Part of the definition of power armor is that enhances the power of the organism wearing it. Beyond allowing the crippled Eva units to operate the armor doesn't enhance them. And even then, Angels naturally have S2 engines or an equivalent that allows unlimited operation time like any other biological being and Nerv just tamed them partially by making them dependant on power. Which doesn't always work regardless, and both Eva Unit 01 and Eva Unit 00 go berserk and operate without power past their time limit because of it.
>>15016599
My grandpa has a pacemaker, is he a robot?
>>15016584
/thread
doesn't ritsuko's technobabble at the start when they're showing shinji around specifically mention that stuff
>>15016703
No he's a cyborg
>>15016719
What stuff?
>>15016556
>If Evangelion is considered a mecha show in spite of being a generic harem shit with generic stereotyped characters, why isn't Shinmai Maou no Testament?
eva a shit
>People trying to force AoT on /m/ again
/m/ is for mecha and Toku Superhero shows.
AoT is neither. Get it off
If it turns out titan shifting works via nanomachines, would that make it /m/?
>>15016723
the thing about the evas being alive like Humanoid Bioweapon Action Hank Evangelion or whatever
>>15016751
>nanomachines, would that make it /m/?
that makes it Metal Gear
>>15016556
it's /m/ enough for Super Robot Wars.
>>15016748
>/m/ is for mecha and Toku Superhero shows.
>AoT is neither. Get it off
But /m/ is paved with yuri, moeshit, idols and other cancers and by disgusting fags.
>>15016768
All those cancers are also mecha shows/Toku Superhero shows
>>15016759
I don't recall. If she does she only says the bare minimum though I imagine, since the questions of what Evas are, where they come from, what their connection is to the impacts etc. run through the show. So she might reveal they're alive, but I doubt it's too much more than that, and that should already be fairly obvious given the giant biological eye staring at Shinji when he first sees Eva 01, both to the character and to the audience.
>>15016584
This. The whole show is presented as a mecha anime. Shitgeki, is not.
>>15016719
It does, but like a lot of the shit in Eva it's presented offhand and isn't really a focus at all. As a matter of fact, the way it's presented is almost made to blend into the background as just technobabble.
EVAs are big fleshy things with power armor, titans are just big fleshy things
>>15016556
Because the Evas wear armor that makes them visually resemble robots most of the time, while the Titans don't.
>>15016584
>the fact that the evas aren't robots
WRONG
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.U.R.
evas aren't mecha but they are robots
>>15016592
>>15016599
The only correct answers. How is /m/ so stupid?
I can imagine the creator of Shingeki kinda liking the idea of the fleshrobots from Eva and coming up with ideas for fanart
And he's like "woah what if I did like a hyper-biological version where the pilots are like embedded in their backs
and the armor is all fleshy too"
"lol"
"Wait a damnable minute"
>>15018938
>>15016728
Wow... Shinji really was the archetype for the bland harem mc (despite not having a defacto harem)
>>15021958
I think Ah Megami-sama, Tenchi Muyo an d other titles were more influential. Shinji is supposed to look average, Anno especifically told Sadamoto to not make him too handsome, but Shinji has a personality and a that's a big turn-off for the otakus because they can't self-insert. Also he has a shitty life and the waifus don't make it better.
>>15022355
>but Shinji has a personality and a that's a big turn-off for the otakus because they can't self-insert
