and so, your war ends/your big bad monster is defeated and you're supposed to live happily ever after, but never pilot a mecha again
would you be able to deal with it and settle down on your new life or you'd end up go on a self-destructive life seeking the thrill only a giant robot battle can give you?

I'd probably become a giant robot gladiator.

but anon, that's against the law and giant robots aren't accessible by civs

Mid life crisis much?
Or you could do what lots of other war vets do, you pick up a training slot and prepare the next generation to face any future threats. There, now you have job security and you can still pilot a giant robot until your reflexes give out on you.

it'd depend on my age and how I defeated my monster or how the war ended. If I beat my monster in my prime I'd probably continue my robot battling ways if it was near the end of my career I'd sit out.

I mean, that is what Amuro did, but then the Federation wouldn't stop spying on him so he fucked off to the AEUG.

I'd find another thing to do. Airsoft, stunt flying and air racing, historical reenactment.
As long as I have Gunpla I'm fine

Just become a merc, there's probably gonna be plenty of proxy wars and resistances once all the surplus bots are scooped up.
At least that's what it seems like in the shows.

I'll be fine as long as I have a good waifu. I didn't want to be a pilot to begin with. I just stumbled upon it, and was forced to save some douche named Bright. And then this fag named Casval kept hounding me about killing his slave waifu.

What about I get into teaching piloting? Seems a good middle option.
