I wasn't browsing this board when this released, so i wonder. What were your thoughts on it?
I think it's a massive disappointment that squandered all the potential that it had
I honestly have a hard time differentiating how much of Pacific Rim's shortcomings were real or intentional (like the 2nd-tier jobbers being saved in the last minute by the hero bot). The movie felt like a giant homage every mecha/kaiju trope in existence.
The graphics were objectively great however..

you were on Reddit?

What makes you assume that? I have for a long time been 4chan but i just recently started being interested in mech shows. Do you have interest for every board on this site immediately?

that's exactly what it was, and it did a damn good job

I think if you weren't browsing /m/ when PacRim was released you probably are not a fan of robots so I don't see how you see it fit to discuss something you don't like with people who obviously like it.

Aren't you being a little too harsh on the guy? He said he just got interested in robots.
Now, about the movie: the story has holes (the wall being the main one), but Del Toro wanted to make a cool movie about giant robots punching monsters and that's exactlñy what it is, so no, it fullfilled its potential.
