/m/ loves Concrete Revolutio, right? I think it's a brilliant series. To the untrained eye it might just seem like random madness but when you look closely at it you realize it's intricately crafted like a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle. Everything is intertwined flawlessly. And on top of that it's chock full of retro mecha throwbacks so I'd expect a mecha fan to love it even just for that.

really, the show is really good. But i can see with the theme and underline suggestion why the show is rubbing off the wrong way with the Japanese audience.
>>
>>14956079
I like it, but it is more random than you're admitting, those guest directed episodes really take it down a notch (IMO). I mean, I love Mountain Horse, but that's one episode.
>>
I enjoyed it and found it easy to follow all the the time jumps but I don't think it's as masterfully crafted as you're claiming it is OP. For one the ending felt pretty rushed and some of the episodes like Urobutcher's one just felt meh to me.
Still one of my favorite endings to an anime of all time.
>>
>>14956383
I'm glad you like it despite saying it's rushed, but how is it rushed?

The sales is pretty bad.

Which is funny for this is probably the most well thought out show of 2015/2016. From what I can tell the west likes it a lot.

But I am not only talking about Japan, even in the Mandarin speaking region like TW/CN/HK/SG the show got a very lukewarm reception.

Those retards got mad and left by week 3.

>Everything is intertwined flawlessly.
Not true. As much as I absolutely adore this series (I'm buying lots of figs when I find them) the Nakashima episode (like everything he writes) was complete shit and a waste of time that could have been better used in leading up to the finale.

>And on top of that it's chock full of retro mecha throwbacks so I'd expect a mecha fan to love it even just for that.
Yeah, we know. It's also got Yutapon going crazy on the sakuga.
>>
>>14956511
Not him, but the ending itself wasn't rushed, the lead up to it was. The jumped into the final battle too quickly. There should have been some more time with the war escalating, them getting hunted down, and Emi attacking Ultima.

The camera never loved a man the way it loved the Iron Detective. Every time he stepped into an action scene the animators went nuts.
>>
>>14958686
They really needed to cut an episode, probably the Birdmen episode, since while it told us a couple of things like how athletes were expected to be augmented in order to compete in the olympics, it wasn't really a terribly interesting episode and the show could have benefited a lot from not jumping right into the superhuman cold war going hot and a lot of things happening extremely quickly.
>>
>>14958692
Can we blame them? Raito was the fucking tits.

>>14958696
>They really needed to cut an episode
Yes. As you (and I) said, the Nakashima episode was fucking garbage.

During season 1 people were saying the band episode was weak, but it still had a place in the show and contributed. The Nakashima episode was pure garbage, and skipping it wouldn't change the show or leave anything out at all. A complete waste of time.
>>
>>14958699
>During season 1 people were saying the band episode was weak
I liked Mountain Horse and the focus on what the people with minor superpowers were doing. It helped reinforce the fact that it was an increasingly superhuman society, with every type you could think of rather than just adventurers and superheroes/supervillains.

The only part that bothers me about the episode is the fact that they completely forgot about D dying about three seconds after it happened.
>>
>>14958704
>I liked Mountain Horse and the focus on what the people with minor superpowers were doing. It helped reinforce the fact that it was an increasingly superhuman society, with every type you could think of rather than just adventurers and superheroes/supervillains.
I agree, hence
>but it still had a place in the show and contributed

>The only part that bothers me about the episode is the fact that they completely forgot about D dying about three seconds after it happened.
Yeah, that kind of irked me as well.
>>
>>14958704
>The only part that bothers me about the episode is the fact that they completely forgot about D dying about three seconds after it happened.

I think that part is a play on the title "they are always laughing." Like comedians are not supposed to show the sad face outside. And not mention the other 2 was not too clear on what happened to D.

As for the show, I think a lot of people was expecting some kind of big fight in the end and literally changes the world. It ended up felt like a premature ejaculation without a proper orgasm for them. Which is rather a surprise thing to hear for as the show is a reflection of the 70's Japanese pop culture and political turmoil. All the student protests and color revolutions ended up faded in obscurity in the real life.
The end pretty much ended up the same way with the super human faded (but not disappeared) into history, like the civil right movement today in US: you don't talk about it in normal day live unless some specific topic brought it up. The future Jaguar plays into this.
But with the theme it is understandable that people want some earth shattering finale.
>>
>>14958923
>But with the theme it is understandable that people want some earth shattering finale.
I thought the way it ended was perfect, and I liked how the plot points were addressed and the conflict resolved. I want to imagine that Kikko gets her justice dragon husbando, so I'll keep dreaming that he has to descend back on the Earth to protect it in the future. All in all though, it was very satisfying and fitting.

The issue wasn't the ending, it was the lead up to it. It felt like 2 episodes were just missing before it. Everything with the conflict escalation, Earth-chan and Raito getting hunted down, Emi attacking Ultima and then Jiro showing up just happened too fast.

Is this a serious post? Not dismissing you as a troll or anything, I'm genuinely curious since I've never seen it. I've only watched a bit of the original Aquarion and it was solid, and I know EVOL was massively popular for some reason so it got a lot of shitposting, but Logos generally seems to have been completely ignored. (Possibly due to the negative reaction to EVOL?) One thing I know about Logos is that the massively underrated Yuniko Ayana is involved so I can see the potential based on name alone.

Gate I can understand, that's a pretty smart show. But it's only tangentially /m/-related and Conrevo is smarter.

You never saw this? Really? And yes it is worth watching.

The first episode was ok, but I got a distinct nationalist vibe from it and didn't watch more. Now that I know that the superhuman stuff is a metaphor for direct action in society, Im more interested, but Shou Aikawa leaves me a bit meh.

>>

>Shou Aikawa leaves me a bit meh.
Why is that? What has he done to put you off? Frankly he's one of the better screenwriters out there - and one of the rare ones that gets to work on pet projects like Concrete Revolutio without being particularly concerned about how well they sell. But yeah, a lot of the events in Concrete Revolutio actually directly parallel stuff in Japanese history. It's pretty neat.
>>
>>14960730
Angel Cop, Chaos Dragon, Eureka Seven AO, Garo S2, Urotsukidouji, Violence Jack.
I do think hes in the top 10% of anime screenwriters, but his track record isnt super consistent and knowing hes the head writer makes the stuff that I disliked in the first episode seem more prescient; Nationalism, again

Concrete Revolutio seemed more like it criticized Japanese nationalism by having the superhumans that Jirou was together being stand-ins for the Anti-Imperialist Terrorist group.

In the end, Concrete Revolutio does not provide an answer who was really in the right, though.
>>
>>14963539
Speculation based upon the ED of season 1 were nice.
We all correctly guessed that Hyouma-sempai had time-related powers, that old man Daishi Akita was an alien and then probably be dead by the second half of the show and that Kikko did harbor some rather dangerous sexy second form.

We still don't really know what those eyes and hands and lips are supposed to mean, though.
