These are all from the original Animage run and are no longer considered to be how the MS and ships are depicted. There was something that even said the artist of them had no idea what to draw and just drew whatever. When Chimaki was brought in to helm the art for the reprinting, things changed and were more streamlined in terms of aesthetics.

apparently you don't know what the word "close" means. also, the cockpit area is actually transparent, as the pilot is supposed to be able to see through it, especially in flight mode. it's just "blue" as is commonly done to depict windows in many animated works.
