I wish the GP-01Fb would not have been destroyed, it's one of my favorite mobile suits.

The should have had Kou get the GP-03 and the repaired GP-01Fb given to Christine McKenzie to pilot.

According to the fluff, the Zeon forces had plans to adapt the use of a powerful beam bazooka after the warhead was expended. Then there was the disgusting Full-Armor version from Rebellion. GP02 was a capable MS for its time, but in the world of Gundam everything becomes obsolete within a year or two. The Delaz fleet probably would have used it until they couldn't anymore.

As for the fate of the GP02, it was supposedly recovered by the Feds and refurbished with new parts making a cameo in Zeta Gundam Define.

Its got huge thrusters and even Gato grudgingly admitted it had good preformance when he captured it. With no nuke you can now drop the useless shield and bazooka to greatly lighten the weight as well.

Maybe if the GP02A's operator was dumb enough to not make use of the thrusters then it would be slow, but the GP02A made a mockery of the GP01 in their first fight. Even during the last fight between the GP02A and GP01Fb when Kou had peak familiarity with the GP01Fb, the GP02A wasn't at any disadvantage for mobility in their duel. It quite literally has enough thrust to overcome the bulk, and the thrusters have variable directional control so it can move around however it likes

Also thanks to the magic of luna titanium armor, the GP02A is only 5 tons heavier than a Dom.
