Quick! Kitamura has been hired to make Final Wars 2, but he's out of ideas for what monsters to put in!
Toho has put in the following restrictions, they must be "Godzilla related" and Toho owned, they can not appear if they were killed in FW, you can include a Toho super hero BUT ONLY ONE
>>
>>14881048
Gezora fights the big man early on. Later in the film, Orga, Biollante, Space Goji, Showa Mecha G, Battra, and maybe Megaguirus all team up to fight Godzilla and/or Mothra, in no particular order.

Final battle is against the Orochi spoken of in GMK.

Gotta admit I like it more than the final heisei MechaGodzilla, although the paint job is extremely dull.
Wings are flimsy as hell, though. Garuda looks much better.

Will it transform, though? If not, then I'm not interested.

Yeah, more or less. Heisei MechaGodzilla was originally going to be a combining mecha (Toho would later reuse the concept for MOGUERA) but it was scrapped in favour of the more simple MG-Garuda combination. As far as I can tell, the main model is Noriyoshi Ohrai's poster, which was based on earlier scripts.
You can see concept MG's other transformations there: Maser tank-legs at the lower left, pteranodon-like jetpack in Godzilla's hands, jet at the upper left corner and supertank at lower right side.

Yes, his dick actually his navel, but who cares is a Maser Cannon. Looks like someone has beaten MOGUERA and Kiryu in the maser-measuring contest.

So in the end, what's with that theory that Goro Maki was somehow influencing Godzilla?

The characters talk about Maki having "released" it, but there's no mention of Godzilla absorbing other creatures as i've seen theorized around here, only that Godzilla is in constant evolution

At best I understand that Maki just managed to draw Godzilla towards Japanese waters, left his papers on its biology behind to give people a fighting chance if they were capable of it, then killed himself before the whole madness could begin

The idea is that godzilla is a war between various factions to re-signify the past. Godzilla at times is the bomb, other times it feels like it´s "the feelings of the victims of the bomb". Then when he becomes a light porcupine he looks like the japanese imperial sun flag, and he stands for the fukushima reactors etc etc etc. A dragon, a god, even THE GOD at times, the "big other"... He´s an angel, the ultimate being, and also a cancer, an abomination. Such a spectacularily complex monster, probably THE monster in the history of art, and they got the greatest guy to do the fucking design on top of it all (takeya). IT IS TOO DEEP FOR YOU, YES YOU ARE A DUMMY, YES IT IS VERY VERY SERIOUS ART AND GLORIOUS CINEMA.

To add to that, think about how Godzilla responds and attacks only when the USA hits it, and the proceeds to unleash even greater destruction. So he prevents the bomb but also IS the bomb. The way he freezes twice in the movie allude to godzilla being as much of a part of the japanese landscape as mount fuji and tokyo tower, a sleeping or frozen giant that can awaken at any moment. The movie succeeds in communicating so well the "unreality" of Godzilla, it balances the fact of convincing you of the dream but constantly references the idea of Godzilla as a metaphor for some other reality. Anno manages to really illustrate the complex relationship fiction has with "reality" (I m talking about shot composition, like godzilla walking on the horizon and Yaguchi coming out of a car to see its head from afar, to remind us this is the first time he looks at it directly instead of thru a monitor). The third act of the movie is all about the confusion between the bomb and the monster. It´s like Japan is trying to stop the past from having happened. The deal is that USA will invest heavily into the rebuilding of Japan as a trade for letting them bomb the fuck out of Tokyo-Godzilla. It´s so disorienting to try and think abou it. specially when you have a japanese american Asuka being the representative of the gringos. The movie is so rich scene by scene because the director is so aware of the history of Godzilla, so there´s the heavily meta otaku game at play here, but the movie is so adult at the same time, I really believe hiroki azuma when he says this movie and "your name" herald a new era in japanese pop fiction and therefore, a start of a new identity for japan, likely to be made stronger by all the media efforts ramping up for the olympics

Give em back his ears.

Also, I'd be up for a Godzilla that can walk both upright and stand horizontally or crawl around on all fours if he needs to, filling out the entire width of the screen. A more agile and flexible Godzilla that's not Zilla. Though I guess that would work better in animation than live-action.
>>

Universe 5: the G-Spawn manage to escape, after their initial rampage through Tokyo(something like this pic), they escape into the ocean, and evolve into new forms(which coincidentally resemble other Toho Kaiju), except for two of them;

one of them dissolves itself down to a microscopic scale, and infects hundreds of people in Tokyo turning them into zombies in a manner reminiscent to Matango

the other one after getting shot in the head and managing to escape into a more rural part of Japan, befriends a small boy and thus develops an attachment to humanity, this one gradually evolves into a more heroic looking version of the original Godzilla/Gojira in order to protect it's friend from it's siblings

movie ends with Shin Junior confronting a small army of it's siblings in the heart of Tokyo, with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance...

If it continues from the Shin continuity, and they want to make Godzilla more of a dangerous ally to Japan, maybe they could make him look less sickly and grotesque, while still retaining the bizarreness unique to Shin.

Maybe scientists could make Godzilla "healthier", relieve him of the constant pain and torment that drives him to rampage through Japan, and this would result in a visual change.
>>
>>14883990
Does he really need that though? It's not as if he looks like he's in pain, more like patch-work trying to make cohesive.
He could just get "better" on his own, a next evolved form could be something that doesn't look like it crawled from Satan's Reptile habitat.
>>
>>14884064
>It's not as if he looks like he's in pain
Really? Maybe I'm just imposing that onto him because I read that they based it off of radiation burns and because of those Who Will Know lyrics, but I always had this sense that he's holding his hands like they're covered in flames, and then there's those tiny, constipated eyes.

I know I'm probably the last person here to have read the NES Godzilla Creepypasta, but I finally did so, and I enjoyed it. I know it has perhaps a merely tangential relationship to Godzilla, and that Creepypasta as a genre is dodgy, but I liked how the atmosphere was always at least a little fun and nostalgic, and I liked the art as well. It was a good way to spent 90 minutes, all things said.

I read what exists of the sequel as well, but I can kinda see why it was abandoned. Some cool bits, but it has a plodding feel to it.

What do you folks think?
>>
>>14884302
I dislike the end arc of the first and have never explored the second, but I liked the majority of the original. Bringing demons and angels into horror negates spook factor for me, but for while we didn't know what red was and while the girlfriend was merely a background event and not a character, I was happy with it.

That said, solomon a fucking great. Still the best, even.

I liked it, most of the original designs are great

>>
>>14884302
the ending was super lame and way too sappy for the mood it was cultivating up til then
Red was great but the other "horror" designs came off as try hard at times
i liked it over all though, it just got weaker as it went on and the ending was VERY cliche

Butcher is pretty much the Jar Jar Abrams of anime. He's desperate to be the next big thing but he lack the talent and he's a businessman at heart. After Anno got a huge critical and economical success with Resurgence, I doubt the butcher will make fun of himself, he'll try to proof he's one of the big guys

I believe I made a mistake jumping straight from the original film (a classic) to Ghidorah. I've seen Rodan, but I haven't seen Mothra, so I was pretty damn confused when there was a scene with a variety show and suddenly they bring out these two tiny women who sing a song at some kids' request as a bunch of Japanese tribal people worship a giant grub.

That reminds me of that bullshit "rumor" that someone tried spreading on Tohokingdom before G14's release.

Saying that the MUTO was a result of the "Seed"(Cocoon in movie) merged with Brody's wife at the Nuclear plant, resulting in her becoming the FeMUTO and later giving birth to the Male MUTO that was technically Son Brody's half brother.
Then something about the final battle involving a more humanoid appearance and her getting burned to death.

Also anyone up for "Rumor" spreading during the next Toho G film?
>>
>>14887522
One of the reasons I stay away from that hell hole. Like that one rumor someone tried to post on Facebook that came from there

>Godzilla was some infected creature
>something described as a demonic angel would emerge from him
>japan would let us nuke them but they would get back their military in exchange
>>
>>14887550
That shit was started by the user named LCDJellyfish(?) on TK.
I was actual at ground zero for that and holy shit the amount of salt before and after was amazing.

There are still people bitching about wanting Judas(the monster) as an actual Godzilla monster.
>>
>>14887556
His name was supposed to be judas?

Anyway, I could tell i was gonna be in for a ride as soon as they said it was from toho kingdom, but then it just became stupid the moment they mentioned "angel"

It's like it was written by someone who wilipedia'd anno for 20 minutes and wrote it
>>
>>14887562
Yeah, he called it Judas because it fit Anno's style, and had it rip out of Godzilla's back like how Judas(Bible) stabbed Jesus in the back, who was God in human form.
It turned into an "Xenomorph angel" with locus wings, spat acid, and turned to spider like creatures after being "Killed".

He also made the "Script" link with the Legendary series through the Monarch symbol on a folder at the end of the "film".
The sad thing is was that people believed him due to the project being attached to Anno's name, his style, and how this was supposed to be the "scariest Godzilla yet!"
That's pretty much what he did, he took the God warrior, took the "Judas" idea, and made an explanation for why Godzilla looked fucked up.

After the "Judas aftermath", he went on a trolling spree about how Hedorah was in the film, because of Godzilla's "burned appearance" and that his theory was confirmed due to the amount of Merchandise Hedorah was getting before Shin's Japanese release.
>>
>>14887583
I just read that post again online, my God so much of it is pants on head retarded. I think I have up the last read through and didn't even see the Monarch part

And people actually believed this?
>>
I got a kick out of Jim Ballard making two posts over the summer in regards to Shin Godzilla claiming no one knew the movie was out and there was hardly any advertising.
>>
>>14887590
They believed it, faithfully stuck by it even after it was revealed fake, and formed a contained cult following for the idea.
Oddly enough no one ever made "fan art" of either Judas or Alphagon.

People when the were told it was fake still acted like it was possible that it was real and that "Official News" was trying to hiding the full story, or went on rants about how the "Judas story" would've been better than what we got(even though the JPN release wasn't even out yet).

The best part out of all this was that when Creditable people came to the forums with Real news and basically told them the major twists of the movie, the Users bashed them while calling them liars and trolls, while LSDJellyfish was never "attack" for his actual trolling but was praised for his amazing script idea.
>>
>>14887617

I mean, the nuclear bomb thing sounds almost interesting, but this script sounds like version one of a script in bad need of re writes

Jim lives in a part of Japan where the advertisement camea month before release.
I like Jim, but he's a spawn from the same pool that most TK users thrive in today.

A few friends of mine posted spoilers on TK just to see if people would attempt to believe us, with one mixing the order of how scenes went to hide but spoil the "Tail scene" at the ending.
I posted some spoilers on here as well before the film release, but most of my information came from shots of concept art from the still unreleased Artbook.

Gonna take the chance to say I'm baffled so many people are still screeching NOT MUH GODZILLER and THIS IS GINO 2 when no matter how you look at it Shin is far more true to the spirit of Godzilla than Zilla ever was, and the things different about him are pretty minimal

What a lot of people want is Heisei or a Heisei like series, but like you said it would only kill the franchise again.

I'm hoping that Toho starts giving directors a certain amount of creative control and allow them to come up with "Their" version of Godzilla every 2/3 years.
I'd love to have a Godzilla film every year, but I also know that too much of a Good thing leads to problems.

Most of the people who bitched about Shin being "GINO 2" are retarded. I went back on TK during and after the "leaks(The pictures)" and saw:
>"Godzilla is too much like Hedorah!"
>"Why the beams on the back are stupid, and how a tail beam wouldn't work!"
>"This Godzilla is an abomination of what the original strive for!"
>"The beams on the back are stupid, look like a rave!"
>"I wanted the Judas script!"
>"Anno's destroying something again *Sigh Emoticon*"
>"This movie is going to flop, just like Gino did!"

And that continues to happen even after they've seen the movie.

Funniest part is how they call it a "corruption" and a "parody" as if they, a nobody on a computer, have more knowledge about what Godzilla is than the very company that created him and goes through exhausting lenghts to have him used right
>>
>>14891888
Agreed.
I mean I have my own idea's I'd love to try for a Godzilla film or how I'd like to see Godzilla, but I know that they're ideas that most likely wouldn't work or wouldn't sell well.

The only two things I can slightly agree on with them(and correct) is that:
>Shin was technically GINO for Japan.
Shin was a HUGE success much like G98 was in the US/worldwide and was radically different from what we were used too from a "Godzilla movie". (I like G98 as a Monster movie)

>"Parts of the film were almost Parody(Good)".
If I had to think like Anno for a moment I would almost say that the reason for the "Googly Eyes"(Besides making sense) for Shin's forms is that Anno wanted to invoke a similar reaction to how people see Past Godzilla movies(and Suits) today. Plus the "Way to go US!" and JPN Government bashing.
>>
>>14891931

Besides, if you're going to tell me that Godzilla having growth stages, multiple beams, a head on his tail and SURPRISE JAW ACTION is a "mockery", then what do you call all the times Godzilla flew, defied gravity via kicks, got revived by lightning, developed magnetic powers out of nowhere, did the safety dance, talked, had two brains, survived a black hole, became ALL THE GHOSTS OF WORLD WAR 2, and possessed a robot built with its bones?

Totally outrageous am I right
>>
>>14892012
Oh yes, because you know that's pushing it way too far and that Anno needs to commit "Sudoku" in hopes of forgiveness.

Point is, as much as I love the Godzilla fanbase and some one the people in it, it's toxic and shitty.

It's weird you brought up Zone Fighter. I just got a copy of all 26 episodes in the mail. Been watching them. I'd never heard of it but read it was part of the Showa Godzilla continuity so I figured I'd check it out. Hilarious stuff. Godzilla comes in every so often to help him out of a jam and beats his chest like he's King Kong or something. He even comes out the side of a mountain that has a sliding door. Wow!! Lol! If you liked Godzilla vs Megalon (which I'm not personally crazy about) then you might like the show. It's not subbed so I have no clue what they are saying but the episodes aren't very complicated. It's got King Ghidorah and Gigan in it too. Poor Gigan gets the shit beat out of him.

They were at least more subtle about it.

Obvious excluding the prologue, which was retelling the previous movie anyway, only super blatant reuse from the previous movie were a couple head close-ups, and then a scene of Godzilla staggering as he's heading for Meachgodzilla.

The last one they at least flipped the scene and MG in the background was mostly obscured until HD so you couldn't notice his changed chest pattern and arm symbols very easily.

Shin Godzilla is the fifth most successful Japanese Godzilla film to date, the highest grossing live-action Japanese film of 2016, Hideaki Anno's most successful film to date, and the third highest grossing film in the Japanese box office for 2016 (behind Your Name and The Force Awakens).

When you take into consideration that it was the first entry after a decade long absence and it had a Hollywood budget at its disposal, Godzilla (2014) didn't exactly have the most inspiring run in Japan.

But it followed MechaGodzilla (74). If anything that should have reassured viewers. And Gigan (72) managed to be the biggest hit the series had during the 70s. Which I don't mind as its one of my personal favorites.

>>14910944
The lengthy break should have renewed interest. I'm sure Toho was expecting a greater turnout. At least something similar to Return of Godzilla. Guess it just failed to connect.

Though Godzilla (1998) probably made the road difficult for the Millennium films. That drop was immediate and steep.
>>
>>14910963
>At least something similar to Return of Godzilla. Guess it just failed to connect.
Apparently, 1984 was considered just a moderate success by toho. Though that might just be due to the fact that it went over budget.

Also, when it comes to foreign films, don't they have much bigger turn out for the animated ones? Like how zootopia and frozen were apparently huge there
>>
>>14910967
Yeah, Toho wasn't exactly thrilled with RoG's turnout. Though it also had the advantage of there not being an original Godzilla feature for nearly a decade. At least Toho didn't have to spend money on Godzilla (2014).

Animated Disney films and Studio Ghibli films have historically dominated the Japanese box office for the last few decades, regularly breaking the $100 million mark. Shin Godzilla ($76 million) beat both Zootopia ($70 million) and Finding Dory ($65 million) in 2016. However, Frozen was a monster of a hit ($249 million) back in 2014.

I think that only applied to All Monsters Attack, and if you want to get technical, a few of the previous movies were also recut and rereleased for some festival or another.

But the 70s ones were regular releases. Even the lower-budget, lower-effort ones like Megalon.

The "realistic tone" of G'14 was more about aesthetics of the monsters and showing the consequences of the destruction. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/11/10/kong-skull-island-first-look-movie-monster

>With Kong, there’s been obviously so many different versions of him in the past and ours needed to feel unique to our film. I had a mandate that I wanted a kid to be able to doodle him on the back of a piece of homework and for his shapes to be simple and hopefully iconic enough that, like, a third grader could draw that shape and you would know what it is. A big part of our Kong was I wanted to make something that gave the impression that he was a lonely God, he was a morose figure, lumbering around this island.

>We sort of went back to the 1933 version in the sense that he’s a bipedal creature that walks in an upright position, as opposed to the anthropomorphic, anatomically correct silverback gorilla that walks on all fours. Our Kong was intended to say, like, this isn’t just a big gorilla or a big monkey. This is something that is its own species. It has its own set of rules, so we can do what we want and we really wanted to pay homage to what came before…and yet do something completely different.

>There’s subtle nods. [The ’33 film] was black and white, so it’s really easy to assume that the fur on the monkey is black, but there’s actually a lot of forums and things that you read and there’s some real poster artwork where Kong’s fur skews more brownish, so we actually pushed his fur in more of a brown as opposed to the traditional black. It really was trying to create this feeling so that when these humans look up at him, they hopefully have a visceral response, saying to themselves, ‘That’s a God, I’m looking at a God.’

Nice. I'm really happy that he's not just a giant gorilla.
I really like the tone the director is going for. Hope it delivers.
>>
>>14923365
Maybe if all the Godzilla fans from Europe somehow came together in the same showroom, that would warrant at least one screening. Otherwise, nah.
>>
>>14923215
He definitely looks young. Perhaps to counter Gozilla's aged persona? Hopefully 40 years won't catch up to him.
>>
>>14910903
Son of Godzilla seems to be the turning point for the franchise. It seems the nips weren't very fond of Minilla and the infantilization of Godzilla or maybe it was the oversaturation of having tokusatsu every week on TV
>>
Is it wrong to want Ghidorah to be able to speak in a Godzilla movie?
Maybe just the smartest head or something like that.
>>
>>14924133
Maybe not full on speaking, but telepathy would be good.

Also, go full Dragon Wars and make Ghidorah the mastermind behind the invading alien army. Treat Ghidorah as a dark god feared throughout the galaxy.
>>
>>14924209
I dunno, without trying to sound like an edgelord I prefer the idea that he's just chaos. I'd like to see invading aliens try to use him in their plans only for him to attack them as indiscriminately as everything else

Will there ever be a Godzilla game as good as this?
>YUGE cast of monsters
>that kick-ass OC crystal monster
>Based Titanosaurus and Biollante
>faction dynamic decided what monsters helped you
>unique set of of mini-games
>dem water and lava locations

The only problems I ever saw with it were
>Swimmer monsters couldn't dive in water
>tfw no Zilla
>tfw no OP Gorosaurus with only melee attacks, but they do buttfuck damage
>REEEEEE WHY WOULD YOU FAGGOTS MAKE DESTOROYAH FIGHT THAT GOD DAMN GOTENGO BOSS IF YOU NEED BEAM ATTACKS TO EFFECTIVELY KILL IT KLA;DSJFALSKDFJA FREEZE ME /ONE MORE TIME/ YOU FLYING WEEB DILDO I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL SHOVE YOU INTO THE WORLD TRADE CENTER REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Godzilla vs The League of Shadows (under Bane)
Who wins?
They're both of equal size

Okay so, picture you this:
you are a man with the strength of five, and you manage a group of highly trained assassins, and you own a secret and slightly more scientifically well-equipped than one would assume base way out in the middle of nowhere, isolated.
One day something nasty, kinda looking like a cartoon dinosaur or some sort of fucked up dog but about your height or maybe just a tiny bit taller vomits a stream of fire hotter than fire through your front door. You go to punch it but it catches your hand, seeming about as strong as you but burns to the touch. You react quick and you break its arm, a good chunk of it falling on the floor. both you and it retreat, and you organize your assassins to track down this thing and get your hand checked out, because it hasn't stopped burning. The results come back, you've started developing skin cancer in your hand, and on a quick sweep of the building you notice that the monster's hand that fell off is missing. Night falls as you watch out the window of your secret assassin base, and on the horizon you can see it: two monsters lurking in the distance, the plates on their backs glowing a dim red as night crawls across the sky behind them.
Are you certain you're ready for round two?

Still no HD version of Shin Gojira online yet huh?

Better question: Will there ever be another good Godzilla game in general?
>>
>>14925891
I'm kinda hoping for it. I mean, to be fair Save the Earth and Unleashed came out at sort of an end of an era, what with both of them being out around the time that Final Wars came out. But we DID get that PS3 game after 2014, I guess

Watching Raids Again.
I think I'd care more about all this wedding shit if the characters were from the previous movie, but they don't even have that.

Isn't that in a different continuity?

Technically yes but we never see the 54 guys again on the Showa continuity while Destoroyah retook direct elements and scenes from 54 and an actor retook her role

the gamera one was never in the works IIRC, it was just some sort of tech demo or something, like that deadpool short that got that movie the greenlight.
