I have to chime in here and say that I love the Javelin. If we take it's unit number into account, then they entered service in UC122 and by the time of Victory have been in service as long as the Jegans at the time of F-91 yet are still capable of giving Zanscare's best units a run for their money.

Truly a worthy successor to the name GM.

The Gundams are made out of leftovers from Operation V, they aren't as beefy as the RX-78-2 because they're sort of semi hacked together to make them work.

Graze is crap. It's not shit, but the design reeks of the terrible mechanical direction that plagues IBO.

The waist is horrible. The high heeled feet are stupid retarded. The HG kit can't even hold its axe properly because the handle is round for god knows what reason. There's no armor for the very vulnerable back of legs, and the shoulder joints are worryingly wiggly and unless you cement them together are a weak point of the kit.

It's the best not-Zaku grunt we've had in awhile, I'll give it that, but it's nothing close to "love." I feel it would have had a better overall if the mechanical team for IBO would stop with the shitty MS traits that are becoming iconic of this Gundam universe.

Actually, on paper, the GM III is superior to the Jegan. Jegans were just cheaper to produce. They could field more Jegans, which were decent machines in their own right, compared to producing the more powerful GM III.

So really, it's even sadder, because you'd be getting saddled with an entirely new machine that you'll never quite get used to, because it just isn't the GM that saw you through all those years of war.

But the Jegan saw use by the Feddies for as long as they did for a reason. They might not been as powerful as the GM III, but they were still damn good machines, and were built to last, just like their predecessors. She may not be your ol' GM, but treat her right, and your Jegan's going to look after you for a long time.

Jegans are weird now that I look into it. They have more powerful powerplants, greater sensor range, and more verniers than GM IIIs, but are inferior in terms of thrust/weight ~1125 to ~1298 kg/ton, not that Gundam stats mean anything and armament. Also, GM IIIs also incorporate Luna Titanium alloy into their armor, without the disadvantage of being as big of a target as a Jegan.

Ideally theoretical GM pilot keeps using ol' Jim even after the Feds start cranking out Jegans, uses a Jegan shield because it's bigger and gives the thing even more explosives, and makes up for the "flaws" of inferior sensor range and less verniers through sensing enemies' hostility -- since according to Lila even oldtypes could do that -- and piloting skill gained from all those years of experience.

It's hard to spot the difference between being time and art tweaks. I think the only animated, non-cannonfodder original Doms are the 79 Black Tri-Stars. And they are only fighting evacuees and the Gundam. Figure "confirmed kills" also means MS units only, so pic unrelated.

I always thought it was weird how the missiles on the Jegan shield are sort of exposed.

You'd imagine that you'd want to keep that protected since the shield is what you'd use to absorb bullets with, and if even just one of those bullets hit a missile, or a beam shot near the missile heats them up too much, there goes your entire shield and probably your Jegan's arm as well.
