They don't show any moon battles until Zeta. Zeon did take over Granada, the second largest city on the Moon, but not the largest city of Von Braun.
Basically the side of the moon that faces earth was under EFSF control and the side facing Side 3 was under Zeon control. There is colony wreckage on the moon in Zeta and other debris, but they don't say where it came from or mention any OYW battles on the moon.
