The brand has already been devalued between the shitty prequels and all the fan fiction tier 'Extended universe' books and games that have came out since the original trilogy, which aside from it, and a few stand outs in the EU games and books, most of it's been trash.

They're super flawed films, but it's got some of the best CGI plus model work special effects ever made and the huge scope of the story is amazing. Yes, there's retarded stuff like Anakin making CP3PO and dislike of sand, but as an idea guy, Lucas has more inspiration than most directors have in their whole career.

As much as I love the OT, they're literally as tied to Han Solo, Luke, and Leia as Seed was to Kira, Cagalli, and Lacus. That's why so much EU stuff was awful, it was trying to fill the spots in between. Gundam has a ton of awful writing, but it's such a big universe that it's amazing. The prequels has the same scope.

The Republic was basically a utopian galactic EU for years with the Jedis being glorified peacekeepers with laser swords. All of the planets had navies to fight pirates and get smugglers. However, poorer planets were left out of the deal.

The prequels always felt off in comparison to the original trilogy, RLM or no RLM. Georgie Porgie may have had some interesting ideas, but his execution, writing, and a lack of a filter/editor to keep out the more pants on head retarded ideas crippled what potential the prequels had as decent films.
