Let's be honest here, none of these guys deserved to have their own franchises. Has there ever been an /m/-related IP that wasn't ruined by its own creators? What is the fine line between being an auteur and being owned by Disney?
>look mom, i did it again!

Tomino never had his own franchise. Gundam has always been in the hands of production committees and Bandai. I doubt he even wanted Gundam to be a franchise.
MGS and Kojima are similar- he kept on being forced to make MGS sequels by Konami because of all the fans, and now after they fired him they still continue to rape its carcass.
Nagano seriously needs to do more with FSS and let others in on the franchise. Make some more kits, give an anime or video game, etc. It feels like all he is doing is just sitting on it and all of its potential. Kind of the opposite problem with Anno, Kawamori, and Lucas.

I liked how Tomino removed all the merchandising-friendly elements from the story when he wrote the novel versions of the original Gundam. There were no monsters-of-the-week, Amuro was in the regular military, and the story had a conclusive ending.
>>14851284
Monsters of the week aren't really merchandising friendly - they're there for the tv format, giving a complete conflict of sorts per episode. Although Gundam makes merchandising based on them, it's a big exception, most monsters of the week in various Japanese franchises don't really get any merchandising.

>>14851370
Why does he look like the guy from Transmetropolitan?
>>14851308
>Monsters of the week aren't really merchandising friendly
Be sure to tell anyone that ever enjoy an older toku or robot series

Money

All of them did really good jobs early on in their work and earned respect for that. However, the fanbase and the popularity ran away on all those people ruining future work.
>tfw the original star wars was an heaping pile of garbage aside from the stuff lucas edited out
>>14851432
You've got it backwards, SW was saved by editing out the shit Lucas put in
>>14851114
>none of these guys deserved to have their own franchises
Yeah, they don't deserve it. They worked hard for it.
Like how you work hard for your (you's).
>>14851238
>video game
God, I'm so tired of this threads.
>>14851572
Indeed, let's have another thread where we do the same shit but disguise it under something like a Macross Delta general.
>>14851114
Honestly, the Star Wars original trilogy is so highly regarded that it's impossible for a mediocre prequel or sequel trilogy or even a Christmas special to ruin it
>>14851114
Hi. Also, he's far more influential than the people in your image.
>>14851675

>yfw Lucas is a laughing stock one-hit wonder
By mother of God, nothing define Nagai better than what you just said there. It's kinda of funny.

Go home, Pablo.

Are these threads created by a butthurt 'artist' being salty over the lack of recognition of his own?
It's kind of sad, and the word 'hack' really lost its meaning now.

NO
SHISHI
>>14851868
>>14852070
I wasn't talking about the original Star Wars.
Here are Nagai's own words.
>>14852316
And do you honestly believe in that? Both you and Nagai need a reality check. This shit is like saying Rocky ripped off Ashita no Joe. Those ideas were not even that original to begin with.
>>14856771
>Not liking the Mk III
Okay faggot
>>14851114
>Has there ever been an /m/-related IP that wasn't ruined by its own creators?
Not when you're a cynical fuck about everything, no

They're all Mk-II's and the GTM version is like a parody of the original.

>>14851114
I just know Kawamori has gone full retard without return
>>14857061
>>14852316
I assume it was just a case where both of them thought of those ideas on their own and coincidentally other famous works came out during the same period that used those same ideas.
I mean, the Nagai stuff isn't the most original concept of all time and all things considered it's not that hard to believe that two stand out authors came up with the Three Laws of Robotics.
Don't forget Gene Roddenberry
>>14852316
Just sounds like nagai's head is up his own ass making connections where there really aren't any at least not of any substance.
>>14851746
The spic hates nagai false flag asshole
>>14851408
That's the idea - to make Tomino look like Roach Tel-Aviv.
>>14858436
Considering everything in Star Wars is inspired by Flash Gordon, Akira Kurosawa, and a lot of classic adventure stories it's likely just coincidental.
>>14858450
Roddenberry didn't retroactively ruin Trek with some latter day rehash or prequel, though. He did TOS, he barely began TNG, then he up and died. DS9, Voyager, Enterprise? That was Berman and others having no fucking clue what to do with the property.
>>14858707
I can think of some things that Eugene Wesley Roddenberry put into TNG that should have never been.
>>14858464
This.
>>14858552
Spics love Mazinger, tard.
