/m/, would you rather live in a mecha themed universe with sci-fi aesthetics of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, or now?
>>14815476
I'd rather live in the 80s future setting.
Torn between 70s and 80s
Nowadays is lamest easily.
>>14815476
I rather WOULDN'T live in any mecha-themed universe at all. They ALL involve hugely dangerous things use ubiquitously.
I just want to live in the late 80s with a good internet.
>>14815476
Since all the others are subsets (can be experienced) today, I'm sticking with today.
>>14815476

>grow up watching sci-fi movies.

>oh my god it's the 80's and I have disposable income now
>vote with your Yenz for more realistic, detailed sci-fi designs that remind you of the airplane models you used to build

>pic related doesn't happen by accident

patlabor isn't that bad for the most part. No worse than today at worst.
>>14815476
Unicorn colony looks massively comfy, it's basically 80's aesthetic with modern touch
pure 80s-90's cyberpunk neon vaporware are just too meme-tier
>>14816809
>meme-tier
Abusing the word meme is itself a meme.

I think mecha design went to shit in the 80s and never recovered. The mecha designers stopped thinking in "realistic" terms and let the artsy guys influence the designs. Spikes everywhere, robots that look like ballerinas so fucking thin that they are. I'm not saying that mecha design should take as example Mazinger or Getter, but damn there is a great difference between those toyetic robots and the spikey mess that are 80s-90s-00s-2010s Gundams and the like. The middle road has been completely forgotten.
Probably modern to be honest.
As long as we are free of that Apple shit.
>>14815476
Modern is the most practical, but the 60s tend to have the most fantastical technology in their futures.
>>14815476
Late eighties so I can have good robutts and most importantlybabes with High Cuts.
90's seems ok to me.
>>14817265
>High Cutsbut there's police brutality as well as oily horse dongs, you sure want such things?
>>14817322
I want to be the horsedong brutality
>>14815476
80s but with mobile technology of today. Just with 80s aesthetics.
>>14817322
Of course since I'm a really hung policeman.
The aesthetics of 2005.
>>14817013
>The mecha designers stopped thinking in "realistic" terms and let the artsy guys influence the designs. Spikes everywhere, robots that look like ballerinas so fucking thin that they are.
Fuck off. Nagano wasn't the definitive representation of the 80s anyway.
>>14815476
80's.
I don't want apple iphone 7 aesthetics.
EPCOT Center is scientifically proven best future.
>>14815476
80s. Shading, hand painted cells, and High cut for the win.
I'll take the risk of being torn to shreds by wasteland bandits.
>>14820811
>I don't want apple iphone 7 aesthetics.
We were warned about that aesthetic in Demolition Man. We didn't listen.
>>14815476
Late 70s/early 80s aesthetic is the best scifi aesthetic, my friend.
90s
previous decade is probably one of the biggest memes of all time
>>14826055
late 80s/early 90s is better
>Wanting touchscreens instead of gauges, dials and CRTs

>>14817013
So going by what you posted everything pre-80's was thinking in "realistic" terms?
>>14817322
It's 80s shirow, not modern shirow, so I think he'll be fine. Also police brutality is part of the appeal.
>>14826499
I honestly vacillate between the two! Just feeling the former more nowadays.
>>14826435
>memes
There's that word again.
Also, 90s nostalgia is even more misleading WRT the reality of the decade.
>>14815476
50's-60's. I like that optimistic, vibrant, cozy style.
>>14817322
>>14820853
No police brutality for me! My M-66 maid will protect me from the cops AND from the wasteland weirdos!
>Shading, hand painted cells, and High cut for the win.
correct!
