What is it ? A lazy Matsumoto tread, sweet I guess this is the place to post the french scans of Danguard Ace, making new tread for those isn't really worth it.

Again, Danguard Ace is pretty mediocre, but Matsumoto is a nice artist, sometimes.

I did buy nearly all the late Black Box realase, but the amout of time required for scaning them all is way more that I could invest. I guess I could do scans bit by bit like here, but it will be quite slow, irregular and with poor quality scans.

If you liked the two mazinger, it could be a nice conclusion to those. But the artstyle is quite poor, and sometimes just terrible, plus it's episodic like the other two Mazinger.

I buy them only because they were the first wave of Nagai publication, and I wasn't expecting any more, so I buy all the things in a cash converter. Today, I would not buy them, just stick to Mazinger unless you really liked Goldorack when you were younger, or if you really want an end to the story of the various pilot.

Divine comedy is interesting if you like Nagai and want to see one of his influence, but it's also forgettable.

Ok cool.
It's nice to have such a lot of choices in the french editions.
Too bad it can get hard to find stuff that was published after a few years sometimes.

I reccomend the Wingman manga that was barely scanlated but is fully available in a new deluxe french edition.
>>
>>14789629
Wingman is very interesting and yet very irregular work, the begining is quite engaging but it's became too repetitive after a fex volumes.

I may still buy it, and scan it if there is no other source.

France is a good country for old manga, but like you said, there is no reprint, and no ishinomori either.
>>
>>14789688
We got the Ishonomori Zelda comic from nintendo power and Kamen Rider (I should probably buy that).
009 publishing was fucking bullshit though. they upped the price even if it was already a pretty expensive book because "not enough sales" and then dropped it.
>>
>>14789713
And yet it's one of the most complete edition of Cyborg.
Glénat is a terrible editor, the only thing they care about is dragon ball and maybe akira.

Reminder OP said fucking Gosaku Ota is a better artist than Leiji Matsumoto.

I don't think Leiji is the best of the classic cartoony post-Tezuka artists at drawing actual comics; he was better at drawing pin-ups but he's definitely not Tezuka or Ishinomori level at comic making. But he's still good - his sillier designs are very unique (>>14789328 is good, fuck off) and look unlike the cartoony characters of Tezuka, Nagai, Ishinomori etc. His cool designs are very iconic and imposing and his inking is very personal (OP says it's "the worst thing about his art" without actually giving reasons). He admittedly takes female design recycling to a new level but there's still more good than bad about his art. And OP hating on his paneling is just stupid.

Oh and it's fucking retarded to say shit like "X is the WORST artist from his era" about an era where you weren't even born, a lot of stuff from it not even being vaguely remembered let alone available online. Your judgment on the "state of the industry" in the 60s and 70s is based entirely on things people liked enough that they scanned and posted online and/or rereleased in stores in modern days.
>>
>>14790557
>Gosaku Ota is a better artist than Leiji Matsumoto.
He is.

Ota learnt from the best, Ishimori.
>>
>>14790586
Being an assistant to a good artist doesn't mean you're gonna be good, similarly being an assistant for a meh artist doesn't mean you can't get better than them. I think Eiichiro Oda quickly got better than Nobuhiro Watsuki for example.

The only thing Ota was particularly good at was comedy faces; too bad he focused on action manga instead of comedy manga. I also can't help but wonder if the only good drawings by "him" were done by other people since Dynamic Pro people drew each other's stuff a lot. An entire story arc in Nagai's Grendizer was obviously drawn by Ishikawa and not even credited.
>>
>>14790605
Grendizer is a better manga than Danguard Ace that was posted in this very thread (it's shit)

Therefore Ota > Lazy Matsumoto

I've skimmed through a bunch of Leiji manga and couldn't find a single overt instance of characters that are meant to be normal or tall turning into midgets. In Ota's manga it CONSTANTLY happens and it feels like a weird-ass shortcut he uses. I thought it might be a misguided "funny" thing but then it happens during some of the most serious and dramatic moments.

Even happens to Grendizer itself.

Sexaroid
Drifting Express 000
Millennial Queen
Miraizerban
Mystery Eve
Wadachi
Otoko Oidon
V2 Panzer
Danguard Ace
You also seem to this belief that Matsumoto was churning out only 1 chapter a month when in reality he was usually working on several manga and pumping out a chapter by the week. At the very least you can do some very basic research but that lack of that is what makes you a shitposter, I guess. There's also a need for you to understand Leiji has said he likes writing his manga so that he can come back to it at any time he pleases (Galaxy Express)
>>
>>14797032
You didn't read half of these. Stop pretending.

I have the Yamato manga and it has no ending, it stops at the start of the Comet Empire storyline, leaving an entire story arc incomplete.

And we're always comparing him to the likes of Tezuka, ishinomori, Nagai, Yokoyama, etc... All these have worked under the exact same circunstances and did a lot more than Lazy. And without wasting the pages limit with huge blanks and talking heads.
>>
>>14797204
You keep moving the goalposts. Seriously, what is your point? You ask for finished manga and I provide you a list of some and then you move onto something else. It's the saddest and most obsessive thing I've seen on this board.

The Comet Empire is from the SECOND Yamato manga -- not the first.

>You didn't read half of these
Likewise to you and most of your claims. They are finished and you can read about them on AnimeKritic's blog.

>Tezuka
You mean the guy who would shit on his superior peers constantly while you complain about Leiji asking for an apology?

You complain about dwarfism and thing bring about Tezuka. Have you seen things like Apollo no Uta or MQ? The characters constantly change proportions from badly drawn attempts at realism to full blown ham hands.

Yokoyama isn't exactly an amazing artist either. Constantly using the same pose for characters running.
>>
>>14797328
>The Comet Empire is from the SECOND Yamato manga -- not the first.

Funny how he decided to continue both Yamato and GE999 and drop the sequels less than halfway in. Such dedication.

>Likewise to you and most of your claims. They are finished and you can read about them on AnimeKritic's blog.

Except where I live we got a fair share of Lazy manga and I was fool enough to buy almost all of them when they were fist released. Good thing now I know better.

About Tezuka and Yokoyama, that's irrelevant. They did a lot more than Leiji and used less shortcuts. You're getting me confused by the other shitposter. I never claimed Leiji is a bad artist, I specifically pointed he's lazy as fuck. Thus the Lazy Matsumoto title.

Yamato was continued to go along with the airing TV series. The pacing was a lot slower and the TV series ended before it was even halfway finished.

Galaxy Express you seem completely ignorant about. The last published volume was used to tie in with the Galaxy Railways series which had 2 seasons and an OVA. For the least 2 decades Leiji has been trying to tie all of his series together into one epic final battle between the metanoids. This has involved the Great Yamato manga and the Mahoroba film. It's intentional. If you want to blame something blame copyright. You're also ignoring circumstances such as the magazines some of his work was being published in being canned.

>About Tezuka and Yokoyama, that's irrelevant

Watch Endless Orbit SSX.

The original manga was a lot more focus on Mime despite being unfinished. It's pretty great since you're not stuck on earth constantly over a dumb loli. It ends at the halfway point in the story.

Harlock also appears a few times in Galaxy Express like in the films, Cosmo Warrior Zero, various untranslated manga, Space Symphony Maetel (iirc), a Queen Emeraldas crossover oneshot, and probably a few others.

>>
>>14800736

>>
>>14800756
If Leiji was trying to tie-in everything together, he was doing a pretty bad half-assed job at it, because his universe makes no sense and is full of plot holes. And also, I don't think he had that much input in animated projects like Galaxy Railways. He could have been working as a consultant or supervisor, but it's not his own work. You can tell by a mile that's not something Leiji envisioned himself, same goes for Interstella 5555. If what he said has any truth to it, this "epic" would be a huge mess of random ideas tied together. It's completely incoherent and even the Lazy shitposter said very clearly he was not considering the animated adaptations while talking about how bad Leiji was.
>>

999 is STILL being produced. His works are STILL shown around the country. They're not as famous as they once were, and he's really only appealing to an older crowd, but a grand narrative has always been his goal. There's a reason everything is so interconnected, and if you think it's just because "Oh, Harlock sells", you're sadly mistaken.

I'm sorry you're too stupid to read about things he's actually said in interviews and his books regarding his own philosophy.

What are different iterations and interpretations of the same stories? Marvel and DC does the same thing. They were also written at different times using different ideas. Stories evolve.

>You can tell by a mile that's not something Leiji envisioned himself

It's his. I already told you the last released volume of GE999 was used to introduce it.

>Marvel and DC does the same thing.

And they've all produced more crap than anything worthwhile in a long, long time. Yeah, this comparison is really spot on, actually.
