Does anyone have a screenshot of that super detailed spreadsheet an anon made of all the seasons and episodes, and the progress on them?

I want to do one like that, and I want to draw inspiration from it.

Do 100 Gash rolls.

There's a blue button on the right, right above the red circle in chapter selection. It has the time trial rewards. Your total time for chapter completion has to be below the mark to claim the reward.

Click on イベントミッション on the right side(It's above the red button) and then redeem them. Then you just grab it from the BOX. Gokai Galleon Buster is for beating chapter 1 on Normal in under 25 minutes total.

Have to complete the chapter with a total time under the limit. 25 minutes for normal, 40 minutes for challenge. The summed up time is in the bottom left on the level select.

A lot of other terms like "cryner" or "buddyloid" are not consistently romanized, so the argument for those is nowhere near as strong.

1122. At the start of last month I saw I was at like 900 and with the 2000th episode coming I made it my mission to cross the 1000 episode before that. I'm just about to finish my 20th and 21st shows (Hurricaneger and Abaranger). Looking at what else is avaliable (I.e. subbed) and considering what may be coming over the next few months I'd say that I could well be past 1650 by the time Zyuohger is over.

As for personal recommendations, favorites of mine are Liveman, Dairanger, Gingaman, and GoGoV.

My own first series was Hurricanger, but I can't recommend it simply because it only exists with HK subs that can be a little difficult to find these days.

I didn't get too far in Ginga, I have it all downloaded but haven't had much time. I don't know if it alternates much in the like the first 15 episodes or not but whatever plays the most near the beginning. I remember a gun toting MotW before the Beasts go into their more mechanized forms but his episode really sticks out for the music when they call him forward.

Magiranger was by a small margin the best series of all time, I'd recommend it first for everyone.

Gokaiger is probably the next best but it's the nostalgia series so you'll get more out of it if you've seen other things already. Still fine even if you haven't though.

Other commonly accepted good series include Jetman, Dairanger, Megaranger, Timeranger, Dekaranger, Shinkenger. I hear Liveman is good too, and Gekiranger is supposed to be good although I didn't like it because I saw it raw (it's not the kind of series that works well without subtitles; on the plus side, it has interesting villains and more character development than any other series).

One series no one really talks about that I think also deserves mention is Kakuranger. The first 2 episodes are slow as hell and it's short on character development / plot (meaning it maybe shouldn't be your first series) but has some high quality goofy hijinks. So this has been bothering me with regards to the video format Sentai has, especially on comparison to say, Kamen Rider.

We know all 70's-80's and even up to Kakuranger had the same quality to their video, similar to Showa era Rider. Then I think around Carranger up to GoGo V they had this slightly clearer version.

But then in Gaoranger to GoOnger they had this really odd video quality that I can't seem to describe. It's like the KR's pre-Kabuto "soap opera" style quality but with lower fps. Makes me wonder why SS didn't get the soap opera video format for a while.

Basically anyone wanna help me categorize/identify the video formats Sentai had?

That's not exactly a "format", but a sum of lens used + bad/good post-production editing.

From Goranger --> Timeranger, Toei used 16 mm lens for TV, 35 mm for SOME movies and specials. Since Gaoranger, they started to use digital video in SD (+ intense use CGi), while widescreen + HD started with Boukenger.

However, take a look at Cybercops' Toho in 1988. They tried to record the series using digital video in the VERY EARLY days. Result: great series with disaster quality (visually speaking).

We can't forget the evolution of the use of chroma: in late 90's (GoGoV), the mix of scenes is pretty nice, while in early 80's editors usually cut off and draw directly into the film layer. So... You have again another variation inside that technology.

In general, 2000-2005 was a raw transition time for digital video, specially animes (Gundam Seed was a victim of it).

Speaking about video quality, that's the main reason why people split sentai in "old sentai" (til TimeRanger) and "modern sentai" (since Gaoranger): film layer and old chroma style in the first one; digital video and heavy use of CGi in the second one. The SD-HD-Widescreen was just "corrections" inside this tech.

You also must have realized Power Rangers, til Time Rangers, used different lens than Toei's original sentai footage. Don't know the size/model, but the quality is obviously different (pic related, Toei is darker).
