pics of the model kit of the U-wing fighter from Star Wars Rogue One just went up online, it has some swing wing action. Im not sure how that helps it in spaceflight, I guess its just SW tradition to have spacefighter wings that have a moving gimmick (X-wing, B-wing, Tyderium Shuttle, Ep 3 Jedi Starfighter)

What is even the point.

Judging it only on looks rather than functionality, I like it.
Never heard of this U-wing before, does it not work in an atmosphere? I thought the justification for any aerodynamic starfighter is that it can work in an atmosphere too.

It's a troop transport, actually.
I'm not making this up apparently it's like the sikorsky blackhawk of star wars.
It's like a snowspeeder and an x-wing sired a humongous offspring

How the fuck is that a troop transport?
There isn't any room for the troops
Wouldn't it just make more sense for the rebels to use the LAAT-T?

Er, LAAT/i. Nonetheless, it would make more sense for them to just have old republic equipment.

Underside. OP's pic doesn't really give a good view of the full ship.

Incom really likes the Alliance.

Seriously, It's a fucking Arwing. I thought I was the only person who noticed.

You mean an R-Wing?
I'm just waiting for a new ISD model kit to be released.
God, how I've always wanted one...

It's got a pretty solid underbelly. I was skeptical until I saw the latest trailer I think it was, and they show them loading up. Certainly no room for comfort, but it's a troop transport, so that goes without saying.

The LAATs were already being phased out by Revenge of the Sith IIRC. Lords of the Sith mentions they don't get too much use by anyone but pirates because they're slow and unshielded.
