Think Masamune Shirow
>>
I'd like to know what's the most popular mecha anime in South Africa.
>>
He's probably using it as a catch all for japanese robots.
>>

>manga style mecha
Just means an anime or manga in general. Remember his first language is Afrikaans, South Africans have a strange way of speaking English.

I'd say Chappie is my favourite fill just based on how much it panders to my interests.

Was Chappie good? I wanted to see it because I liked the premise, although it's almost the exact premise of short circuit 1 and 2 put together just with a better designed robot and a more interesting setting. Also I am a fan of die antword. But I heard it felt exactly like every other Niel Bloomkamp but worse, because basically every movie has literally just been district 9 over and over again just steadily more and more water down.

>Was Chappie good?
Fuck no, its just a Diet Antwoord music video
>>
>>14740556
And what's wrong with that?
>>

I'm not sure about VOOKING PROONlanders, but for a while in the UK "manga" was the phrase used to indicate "Japanese visual media including cartoons and comics".
>>

If that poster is british, he probably meant "Anime". Their main anime distributor was called "Manga Entertainment".
>>
>>14740529
Well, I really enjoyed it, but it is absolutely not a very good film. I enjoyed it because 1. I am a Die Antwoord fan and 2. The concept (A bunch of street thugs teach a robot how to be a gangster) really appealed to me.

If both of those are a yes for you, then go see it.

>Their main goddamn anime distributor was called fucking "Manga Entertainment".
Fixed for accuracy

This seems like the most sensible explanation. South Africa was part of the commonwealth, after all. Makes sense they might adopt british terms for this media
>>
>>14740529
I didn't enjoy it personally.

>"manga style mecha",
