I never noticed it, but isn't this Fa's ANT voice? I mean, it was released just a few months before Z, so they probably had the voice clips lying around, but that is kind of strange.
AP also gave a few pilots, like Tetsuya, their Z1 portraits, and made new portraits in that same style for some pilots like Kazuya or the Wing dudes, but this particular thing just sticks out to me as super weird.

Jigoku and Tengoku utilize more symbols per animation than most other games in the franchise. Breadth has little to do with it.

What IS the Unicorn guy's overall portfolio?
The only units I'm sure 100% he did are the Unicorns themselves and the 00, and I guess the Quanta was kind of eh in Z3, but it looks like it got a pretty major upgrade for V, at least.

The Byarlant's so different from the rest of the Unicorn units that I think that's a different guy. I'm pretty sure the same guy's also behind the Brave.
The other Unicorn Feddie suits and I think the Zeon remnant suits do seem like his handiwork, though.

Look at the coloring around the edges, especially during the close up during its last attack. It's definitely the same guy. Plus, it looks no different from the Jesta and Loto in terms of technical work.

There are multiple steps to it and multiple people involved.

You create a storyboard.
Then you create the base (a 3D model, sketch on paper, or digital drawing)
Then you take that base and convert it into the sprite, breaking it up so you have as many rotating and moving parts as the storyboard requires.
Then you run it through multiple tools for animation purposes.

You also have to take into consideration whoever owns the copyright. They may have a very specific image of how their robots and characters should be represented, so it wouldn't surprise me if they got involved.

It's a rough process and I can see why not everything is going to end up looking great as an end result.

Unless, that is, the character or robot in question was created specifically for the game. Then there's a lot more freedom involved and you can keep tweaking and modifying until you get a result that satisfies the team.

Wait, was he? In J itself I would agree because she has the Al-Van thing. But I just finished MD, and aside from the Al-Van plot (which is partially shared with Touya thanks to E-Selda) and Jua-Mu's obsession, Calvina is completely divorced from what's going on with Fury. Everything related to the Fury itself, the princess, the racial purity conflict, and essentially every Fury members except Al-Van and Jua-Mu, is all about Touya. You can write Calvina out of the game and quite frankly nothing needs to be changed, because in J Jua-Mu can become obsessed with Touya too. You can't write out Touya because his character is tied to the entire Fury plot.

Because that's how his character was written in J, it's just that MD skipped the 20 stages of him being mopey so he seemed static. Touya was more memorable in J because you could gradually see him go from I don't want to fight into someone who accepted his fate and was ready to roll.

In MD, Touya skips the I don't want to fight arc and all he really does is sit around in the Granteed and sit out of the Fury battles because they're more interested in the unit than anything.

And even when it does start to shift over to Touya, the Fury are still arguably more interested in the Granteed along than Touya since they tend to just pass him off as its just E-Selda's kid. MD even takes away some of Touya's uniqueness about being the only half Fury on Earth.

Glory Star and K cast would stand in for CE. L and 64 (as if) could come from Shadow Mirror. Land and Mer could come from a world based on @G's and R's bad futures since those never happened in OG.

Fortunately you break out of that phase of the game fairly quickly. There's a massive battle against the Satellite Weapon from Linebarrels at the end of Part 1 (the stage after Mark Sein debuts at that one plant where you pick up Allelujah and Soma) where a bunch of Federation troops are mixed with the Zaboom Empire to try and kill you, as a big meeting by the top brass is going on, but a bunch of your allies on Earth manage to get the guys on top to stop obsessively killing your squad. (And then fucking CHOUJUU GASHIN sequence happens entirely voiced at some point during the stage and it's amazing, that stage fucking rocks.)

Snipe isn't particularly a useful spirit on single-pilot units IMO - if you have to use it, you messed up the previous turn. Neither is Direct Hit since this isn't FMW.

Well there's a lot of stuff I don't know out of this but I expected that. I've had a background of Blue Flow for months and didn't know anything about it, wonder if it's any good. Never did get around to Gad Guard, either, but I remember hearing good things about it. All I know is, with stuff like Mazinger ZERO, Fafner and Yamato, this is a messed up fricking world. Or, with Cross Ange here, we have at least ONE messed up world, with the other side of it being rather low powered in the grand scale of things.

If I was gonna take a stab at this, I feel like the multiple worlds thing would be necessary, especially with the presence of Cross Ange thereby justifying the existence of one in the first place. Keep in mind I haven't seen much of Cross Ange but I know that much. I feel like Zero would have to be some special exception to this, maybe something that Embryo made the world to contain in a separate time loop or something to that extent, I don't know, I'm sure someone more fluent in Cross Ange will make more sense of that. Make the world as terrible as possible and hope that it having to fight increasing levels of things will eventually make it die out on it's own or give up. That would include Yamato, which has people fleeing Earth already, Zwei Worter, which has 9/10's of humanity wiped out in the prologue, Gungriffon, Leynos, Gad Guard, Fafner, Big O, Astro Boy, and I guess Dino Getter all shoved into a single universe. I could not find info on Blue Flow at all so for all I know it might fit there too.

Everything else not named Panzer Warfare, Neo's OGs or maybe AM Driver would get shoved into world 2, which would honestly be rather light hearted with stuff like the Stronger, the Sentai teams, Goldran, and G Generation. I feel like you could seperate this by the MC, like how Z1 did that with Rand and Setsuko.

This list is actually pretty neat though. There's a lot of off the wall stuff that doesn't clash all that much with each other here. I feel like with Den-O here there's potential for an R like plot where the emphasis is fixing bad ends but there isn't enough bad ends here for us, or at least enough to make the entire plot based around this, to fix so hell if I know.

I don't really like the Zeta, or, really, any of the Arios Guy's animations for Z3. For the most part, they're just really basic and boring choreography being prettied up with weird, jerky animation that seems to be in a different framerate from the rest of the game, and they seem more obsessed with showing off cool effects than attacks actually having an impact.

The only Zeta animation that I really like is the Hyper Mega Launcher one where it flies off-screen and then transforms to equip the gun itself. That's clever and memorable. For V, he's swapped that out for Zeta flailing around, and I really don't know why he picked THIS animation to ruin.

Sort of. In Den-O, the villains are these things called Imagin, which grant a wish to it's contract holder in exchange for their "time", which basically means free transport back to an important part of that person's past and usually possessing said person in that time period and causing havoc which directly affects the future. Den-O has a magical time traveling train which it uses to follow the Imagin back to those points in the past and stop them before they end up changing something that can't be changed back, while usually making the actual past of that person slightly better for them in the end.

I see where you're coming from but something about those animations just really works for me. It could be thst the jerkiness creates this illusion of lots of very detailed movement or the way they control the camera, plus those effects are fucking sweet. I can watch Zeta, Nu and Turn A over and over again compared to shit like the FMP upgrade where I only watched the finisher once That said I've actually come to appreciate Unicorn and DX a lot more, they have these really smooth detailed movements and in a perfect world they would have been the standard for reals in modern licensed SRW.

DX is kind of a mixed bag. The choreography is generally pretty good all around, but there are moments that look really stiff pose or animation wise, most notably in the Pala combo attack where it just transitions straight into a kick with almost no frames in between and it just looks silly. The beam sabers and TSC look good though.

Destroy Unicorn looks great after they played it safe with vanilla Unicorn though, yeah.

Turn A's probably the worst offender for the "fancy effects to hide boring animation" thing. Not a lot goes on in any of its animations, including the moonlight butterfly, and they even dropped the Gundam Hammer, one of the weapons which would've been visually interesting!

As for Double X, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on. The choreography's more in-depth, but I think the execution's a fair bit worse. Stuff feels slow and stiff, and the intense zoom-ins seem pretty haphazard. The Satellite Cannon's beam looks good, but the actual buildup to it is neutered in large part that super-stiff standing pose, both on charging up and firing, and the fact it looks super weird from the front. Maybe it should've just stayed SD?
The best animation for the unit is probably the Beam Saber, but that starts getting kind of messy the moment they stop just copying the Z1 version.

Did Z have it? I don't remember if it did but @G and Lost Heroes 2 definitely had Turn-A tossing nukes from it's chest.

I was talking ENTIRELY about R. The reason the 2011-and-later SRWs are rushfests is because you don't need to spend SP to act twice in one turn and there's no W-act (they got rid of that, outside of Compacts, after @1), so they adjusted the turn counts to compensate.

If the latter four Z games and the last two OG games didn't have any sort of multi-action the SR point turn requirements would probably be higher.

The main idea here is that the world is post apoc thanks to stuff like Turn A, Getter and X.

However Megaman is used to take advantage of the two distinct kinds of series because of the whole, while most of the world is messed up, with advances in new energy they're starting to build back society. Which is where the more modern series come into play.

So now we have an issue where some parts of the world are barren wastelands while others are fairly high-tech growth wise. Blue Cosmos aren't too fond of Coordinators and the growing rise of humans who took Reploid enhancements either which is where they come in.

G Gundam focuses more on the Devil Gundam plot because the Gundam fight got cancelled thanks to the SEED guys.

Easy to work with, I suppose, I was just coming up with a list at random for the hell of it, while trying to give it some semblance of grounded reality in SRW trends. Hence a new Gundam and Gundam itself taking up a chunk of the list. (Though in the case of using too much, some people have at least said it's Destiny they've used too much lately over regular SEED)

But yeah, I just did it for kicks. If there's actually something salvageable out of all that, all the better.

Gunbuster's finale is in Alpha 3, that's Episode 5. You do the middle two during the prologue and 30s I think, and the first two are past stuff? No game has done Gunbuster from start to finish is what I'm trying to say, or really even come close.
