I want to create cool mecha game, and even tho I'm very capable in arts, I'm no good in mechanical design. Help anon out, show me some good mecha stuff to inspire about. Hell, draw me a mech and i'll model it. See where that goes?
btw, my favorite mech game: Zone Of The Enders. Mecha experience of my life.

Go to the mechamon threads. They need an artist to do pixel shit. You get to look at varying robot designs from everything from Yuusha to Variable fighters and would probably see more designs then you'd otherwise. Also there are a ton of art books. I have like 80 gigs of mecha concept books/art references that I look through every so often you can probably find a whole gaggle of them in our archives.

I've been daydreaming about mecha games in terms of gameplay. Can anyone give me a good suggestion showcasing truly three-dimensional space combat? The closest I've gotten to it are games where space is an empty box with a de facto up and down that all allies and enemies abide by. If that makes sense.

Show us what you got, anon

Strike suit zero is pretty legit. IIRC the deluxe edition gives all the DLC and fleshes out the plot some. Project Nimbus is okay, if you're into the more twitchy mecha games.
