I hope it plays closer to 1-3 era.

I would like that, since 4-4A and 5-5V didn't really appeal to me. Though, I think most of that was having more cohesive design across all parts.

NEW AC CONFIRMED

Is this the best time for mecha or fuckin' what?
>>
Mark my words. It will be awful.

Call me back when they confirm it for PC.

AC is one of those few non-fighting-game franchises where there is zero advantage to using KB+M in crossplay.

Not if it has an fps-style gameplay this time.

Fucking finally. eighty five years of souls shit is finally over.

Call me when Dark Souls 4 is announced and it's set in a post-apocalyptic space colony setting.

So is this HIGH OCTANE SPEED Armored Core or HEAVY TANKS?
>>
>>14731204
I've lost interest in Armored Core over the past 4 removing any standalone gameplay value. Most sorties last 50 seconds, the asymmetrical damage, the lack of any potential to run out of ammo with the lack of depth of the missions. Not to mention the disappearance of the arena ladder in favor of an obscene grind to threaten participation in an omnipresent turf war game.
>>
>expecting anything from people who thought scan mode was a good idea

Probably closer to 4 since Miyazaki directed that one. Who knows, they might take it in a whole new direction.

For a second I thought it had something to do with Wing. Like Frozen Teardrop or something.

All the Dark Souls games are on PC now, so here's to hoping.

ftfy.

Forget the platform. The fact that it's being made at all is far bigger news.

Sega owns the rights to that franchise, it's why From hasn't done a second one
>>
>>14731211
>>14731216
It's Armored Core. As long as that's still true I'd like it whether it played like the older games, either of the newer generations or something new entirely, I've had fun with all three.

>I think most of that was having more cohesive design across all parts.
You've got me curious now, what exactly did you mean by this?

>>14731284
I enjoyed three of the last four (V being the exception) despite not having an online subscription of any sort. I found there to be sufficient standalone gameplay value.
>>
>>14731247
It's the rebirth of the genre, all we need is for Takahashi to say he's working on another "totally not perfect works" mecha jrpg and we're set.

Also what do you guys wanna see in A.C. VI?
For me it's a space map, and a possible transformable AC/NEXT, although I'm not sure how that'd work out.
>>
>>14731204
Hold your horses, guys. Might be jumping the gun here:

I finally started my first AC yesterday (Silent Line). Here are a few things I'm wondering as a beginner:

>swapped turn left/right (default dpad/stick) with strafing left/right (default L1/R1)
This feels much better for me to control, having movement and camera separated. Do people often do this? Will this bite my ass later? Next point somewhat related.

>on the ground most of the time but see other players 90% on the air
Am I just not utilizing my AC properly or is the default AC just limited? Fought Little Bear and he too was grounded but that just might be his piloting. Also worried that once I do get flying, my button config might not be suited for the air.

>money and upgrading
I have about 40000 after 4 sorties and 1 arena and still using default AC. I figure the first thing to spend on would be the internals. Should I spend on being able to stay on the the air first?

Still some difficulty evading even after remapping the buttons. Most likely because I'm just strafing on the ground and have no idea on boosting properly.
>>
>>14732027
I do the same button swap in most ac games. no problems. Don't worry about the enemies flying a lot. They probably have better generator, thrusters or just plain cheat. I think SL kinda sucks. If you want to make money faster, use energy weapons.

A stupid design aspect of every AC game is the fact that they keep ac assembly separated from shop. Since you can always sell a part for the same price it was bought, it all comes down to this: Just let the player build any AC as if he has all the parts and then check the total cost of parts used. If it exceeds the players total cash, it can't be built.
>>
>>14732027
Depends on what kind of build you want to go for, but indeed internals (generator, radiator, booster, FCS) should be your first purchases, along with a pair of legs you like and a left-hand weapon if you don't like blades.
>>
>>14732027
>Movement Controls
Movement controls are pretty dumb between 2 and Silent Line because they had the analogue sticks, but declined to implement them properly until Nexus. Just use whatever works. I was playing Silent Line on Vita, so I set up an ersatz Nexus control scheme.

>Flight
You can barely stay in the air with the starting boosters/generator, so forget it for now. What most players do is a kind of bunny hop, since it conserves energy while still being mobile, but it's not an absolute necessity. Flight is a bit fiddly control wise, mostly because of the look up/down being buttons instead of sticks.

>Fought Little Bear and he too was grounded but that just might be his piloting
Hah, no, Little Bear is just an atrocious pilot. There's one in every arena.

>money and upgrading
Generators are a good start, as are boosters. You might want to sell some of your starting weapons and try out other stuff to see if you like it better (I don't usually care for rifles). Oh, and ignore the radiator till last, there's like 2 missions where heat dispersal is relevant in that game.
>>
>>14732027
>Do people often do this?
Yeah, not your own setup but pretty much everyone remaps to default controls.
>Will this bite my ass later?
That's up to you to find out, I'm not you.
>Am I just not utilizing my AC properly or is the default AC just limited?
A bit of both. AC is not a series with simple controls and while the starting AC is indeed limited you'll find out that most of the skill comes from your handling of the machine rather than just the specs, you have to find an AC setup that is suited for your style and get used to it until you know all the ups and downs, that is my favorite thing about AC, especially the old series, the skill of the pilot comes first.
>Little Bear
He's a scrub, nothing more than a punching bag for you to get your basic fundamentals down, don't consider it an example of piloting.
>I figure the first thing to spend on would be the internals.
It's useless to upgrade your internal parts if you don't have a frame suited for them and weapons that take advantage of them, with time, you'll learn how to do proper setups, your AC is a machine where each and every component is vital to the overall performance you want to achieve, all components should work together harmoniously, otherwise you'll get a meltingpot without a clear identity, but you first have to find out what you want to do with your AC.
Just take your time, be patient and experiment a lot.
>Still some difficulty evading even after remapping the buttons
>I'm just strafing on the ground and have no idea on boosting properly.
With enough practice you'll get good.
SL isn't exactly the best system in terms of movement, though you can fly for quite a lot of time compared to later games, nevertheless, practice makes everything perfect.
If you ask me, Last Raven is the best AC system in terms of depth, but it's not for beginners, SL will give you good basic training though.
>>
>>14731844
Yeah. There is no new project at all.
It was the usual "we might reconsider AC in the future", and someone mistaken it as "we are working on one".
>>
>>14732366
>It's useless to upgrade your internal parts if you don't have a frame suited for them and weapons that take advantage of them, with time, you'll learn how to do proper setups, your AC is a machine where each and every component is vital to the overall performance you want to achieve, all components should work together harmoniously, otherwise you'll get a meltingpot without a clear identity, but you first have to find out what you want to do with your AC.
It's al very well to spout this off, but for a new player upgrading his robot from paycheque to paycheque there are priorities, you don't just use the starter AC until you have enough to buy your desired build all in one go.

And I disagree that upgrading internal parts is useless without the frame, starting internals and weapons are invariably shit while the starting frames are usually not all that bad.
>>
>>14731204
>fake link
Yeah, sure.

>>14731322
And of all of them, DaS2 SotFS is the only one that was decently ported. Even then, the durability bug meant that you had to run a fix mod to make it bearable.

As for modding, none of the games have ever supported actual modding beyond texture replacement, and even those can get you softbanned.

>>14731266
Miyazaki explicitly said that 3 is the last one in the franchise.

>tfw no Armored Souls
>future setting with energy blades and beam shields
>the gimmick is that you have to manage your soul energy, because fucking up will allow enemies to crack through your armor and pluck your soul from your body without having to bring your HP to zero
>>
Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm planning to get Last Raven after this since it's the last 3rd gen. The store I went to only had SL.
>>
>>14732584
>starting internals and weapons are invariably shit while the starting frames are usually not all that bad.
The problem is managing weight and energy consumption values of all parts, it's useless to upgrade internals without rhyme or reason, at the point he is now if he has a priority is getting better legs first and then worry about internals, learning to blade and fighting arena battles will slash his ammo consumption and give him more net income to afford buying a whole load of parts and internals instead of loading on a single category of parts.
Or at least, that's how I see it, the whole is more important than upgrading a few parts categories.
>>14732666
>I'm planning to get Last Raven after this
Godspeed Satan, you'll need it.
>>
>>14731801
>Takahashi to say he's working on another "totally not perfect works" mecha jrpg and we're set.
Give it a year or so since the NX is going to be released next year I think, so nintendo is probably going to want a new game from him or a updated rerelease of XCX
>>
>>14731322
>Imagine the modding possibilities.
I really wonder why people keep forcing this meme, just because something is being ported or being released on pc doesn't mean that it will get modding, none of the Souls games got modded, the most people do these days is fix bugs taht teh devs are too fucking incompetent to fix

What's the best PSP AC to start with? 1, 3, Last Raven, Formula Front, or Silent Line?
I have Last Raven installed right now but haven't gotten terribly far. Think I just did the Speed bus escort.

But I am bothering.

VD was my first game and I loved it.
Can't wait to see why FA is so much better.
>>
>>14733152
Ah right, putting dumb pics from memes, truly ground breaking, you sure told me m8, so this is what you want right? The ability to change the emblems, something that we could do on the fucking consoles.

I want it on pc because I don't have a console anymore but you are a complete retard if you believe that being on pc means that any real mod will be avaliable

Hey don't be upset that From decided to rip off Front Mission Evolved and squeeze in the rotting carcass of Chromehound's always online multiplayer in there.

hopefully TGS delivers
>>
There will never be another AC. Dark Souls made FROM too much money. Accept it.
>>
>>14732366
The only remapping I ever do is swapping L2/R2 since using my dominant hand to aim up feels more natural to me.
>>
>>14735646
My mind still can't wrap around L2/R2 when under fire. I haven't tried mapping the camera to face buttons and the weapons to LR. Seems more natural in theory.
>>
>>14735796
I tried doing that when I first started playing but I personally found it way harder to control.
>>
>playing Nexus
>mission where you go to the city in the intro video
>intro song starts playing

fuck this shit is good and I'm not even an hour in.
>>
>>14731211
one can only hope, im sorry but 4-VD just weren't fun at all as you always felt too powerful. 4A was basically a Kira/Jesus Gundam simulator if you knew what you where doing.

2AA and Silent line is still my favorites
>>
>"Reboot of an old franchise"

Man, I already feel like I'm just scraping through. Gimlet is giving me a hard time and the burning plant mission is kicking my ass.

>>14738162
When in doubt, tank it oue.
>>
>>14738081
A new King's Field would make me really happy. We don't have any good real-time action first person medieval dungeon crawlers these days.
>>
>>14731434
What's stopping them from making a spiritual successor that is practically a sequel like Demon Souls -> Dark Souls
Sony technically owns Demon Souls while Namco/Bandai owns Dark Souls
>>
>>14738198
>Namco/Bandai owns Dark Souls

They only have the publishing rights for places outside of Japan unless that's changed recently. From self publishes their titles in Japan for the most part.
>>
>>14738162
>Gimlet is giving me a hard time
Gotta get good for that.
>the burning plant mission is kicking my ass.
A good radiator with forced cooling can help you mitigate the damage you'll get while activating the emergency system, you're on your own against the Big White at the end though, you can use the pillar at the center of the room as cover but you'll have to find a way to kill it quickly.
I suggest using a machinegun if you want to have better chances of killing it quickly and just move on, missiles aren't too good in such a small place and I don't know think you're good enough to use rockets yet.
You can also harass it with floating mines though as long as you don't fall for your own trick of course.
>>
>>14738190
Isn't that Elder Scrolls deal though? Maybe not, I've never played any of them so I may have just made myself look dumb

TES stopped being good with Morrowind.
>>
>>14738642
If you're talking harrasment, orbit cannons are pretty nice, since you can fire and forget.
>>
>>14739125
That's a good point but can he get a solid ammo OC core at that point though? I can't remember if there's one at that point in the game.

Besides, using a OC core means he has to face the Big White head on, at least to get it in range, and if he still can't evade properly I don't know how much it will help him, those things are pretty meaty and OCs won't help you much if you're not familiar with your ACs in terms of movements.
>>
>>14738642
>>14738785

Really, missiles are the most problematic things for me to avoid. Which works into Gimlet's favor of using missiles and closing in to unload his guns. Takes 1/3 my AP in one go. I just barely beat him once I upgraded boosters and gtfo every time he's close.

I think I'll experiment with my AC more before Big White. I can't just bunnyhop (if I'm doing it right) everything away, right?
>>
>>14739442
>Really, missiles are the most problematic things for me to avoid.
It's normal, you'll get used to that, if I can give you a tip, missiles are pretty dumb so once you get their homing script down they're pretty easy to avoid, a common trick to avoid most normal missiles early on is to jump a bit high and then fall, that will make most missiles dive into the ground, if you're fighting on uneven terrains you can shut down most of them easily by using this simple trick, once you learn the secret art of bunnyhopping any and all missiles will cease to be a problem, I personally boost forward and then do a wide/short U-turn to jeopardize their homing, but it's a bit risky and you'll need a pretty agile lightweight to do that, and many opponents just use missiles as harassing tools to get you in range or in a dead angle so you can't avoid their main gun's fire, just like Gimlet does, and another, much more dangerous pilot in LR, Rimfire.
>I can't just bunnyhop (if I'm doing it right) everything away, right?
Yes and no, bunnyhopping is a very effective strategy because it fucks up lock-ons but it's not something you can do randomly, you gotta learn how to pace it and which directions are best to avoid being locked on, you'll also have to adjust it depending on your opponent's position etc.
I can spend posts explaining how to bunnyhop proficiently, but it's mostly a matter of muscle memory, reflexes and knowledge of your own AC's handling, 90% of that comes from playing, so bite the pillow and keep practicing.
You'll get better the more you play Anon, don't be discouraged.
>>
>>14739192
I meant orbit cannons, not exceed orbits. The latter are a function of some torsos, the former are a weapon type. Normally you lock on same as with missiles then deploy a handful of pods that will follow the target they were launched at and shoot at them until they time out. I used an orbit cannon back pod on my main Silent Line AC, and it was great for harrying other pilots and racking up a surprising mount of damage.

Exceed orbit cores are good too, but you really need to watch your energy if you have an energy one.

>>14739442
Anti missile extensions? The ones in Silent Line are a far cry from their heyday in 2, but they're a small help. The laser based one is better than the counter missile based one in a confined space like that though.
