Look at someone like Anno who has bought into the deep meme and is so full of shit to make EVA have some deep philosophical meaning besides the basics about human interaction that says the meaning of EVA changes every few years. Or you can look at Kakudo who made Digimon Adventure 02 if you want someone who is literally fucking insane and recalls the entire process of working on 02 or original adventure differently from everyone else.

A mecha designer likes the fans that love his work.
