Lieutenant Commander at twenty-nine. By anime standards, that's pretty low-ranking. But by real life standards, Lt. Commander might be quite an achievement at twenty-nine. I'm not familiar enough with military ranks to know. I also don't know how many years out of the thirteen between 0080 and 0093 he was actively serving the EFF.

Your post isn't even a rebuttal. The fact that the Federation is corrupt was implicit in my argument. Hence "status quo". Amuro knew how corrupt it was more than anyone, he was within that cage. But he continued serving them. Do you think Amuro was retarded?

The Federation in CCA seems more broken and sad because of several wars that have made them destitute and desperate really, while Char is the rich playboy. Taken without the context of 0079, Zeta and ZZ he seems more like a bully picking on them than any kind of revolutionary.

Of course they're part of the Federation - I literally just said they were. I would have thought that was clear from the wording. The splinter faction was A.E.U.G. Who split from the Federation specifically to combat them. No group has ever split from Zeon when they felt a given faction had stepped over the line.

The crew of the Albion went rogue to stop Gato, including stealing suits. Londo Bell acted against orders to pursue Char. Federation personnel disobeyed orders to help the League Militaire against Zanscare.

The point is Federation personnel have a history of recognizing when their leaders or military has stepped over a line and resisting them in some fashion. Zeon don't. The best you can list is individuals defecting to help the Federation. And even that list is small. There's Marida at the least, and I'm not actually sure there's any more.

That's neither amazing nor being held back. That's actually just about right for the rank he'd have with commendable service after about a decades worth of service, assuming he started as a comissioned officer at age 18.

Granted Amuro didn't serve constantly since 0079 to CCA, so there's that to consider too.

But that rank is just about right for his age.
