Vanquish is the only mecha-related 3D game that I'd say is easily superior to ZoE2 gameplay.

If fighters also count then Virtual On is a given too.

Aside from that I don't think there are many others. ZoE2 is amazing but let's not forget all the awful sections like the minefield, Viola's 2nd fight or helping Ardjet in the lava pit.

Unfortunately very few Japanese developers are making mech games at the moment.

There's Revengeance and Armoured Core but that's it. Everything else is of such a terrible quality it's not worth bothering, including Gundam games.

ZoE feels a little too much style over substance to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun mech game. But it's not a terribly impressive video game. The gameplay is a little too simplistic and the sub weapons are a poor alternative to just spamming basic weapons. There's also not much replay value and the game is pretty short.

I think Geass is more Gundam than Votoms. The only Votoms bit comes from the size of Knightmare Frames, and the way they fight before everyone could fly. I could also see some elements of Gasaraki to (which Taniguchi co-directed with Ryosuke Takahashi) with the grappling cables, and sacred sites serving some arcane purpose in a grand conspiracy (the Thought Elevators).

Not surprising since Goro Taniguchi was Takahashi's protege.
