I've watched every Gundam series from the original through Turn A, and enjoyed all of them. Then I watched Seed, which I hated and which completely killed my interest in the franchise (not least of all because of these fucking things right here). But now I'm wondering if maybe I've missed out on something.
So my question is, are any of the Gundam series produced since 2000 worth watching?

What haven't you watched?

I haven't watched anything from Seed Destiny to whatever the newest series is (Iron-Blooded Orphans?).

G-Reco is pretty standard tomino faire, most people enjoy 00 (at least one season). GBF isn't really a Gundam series in the traditional sense but if you watched all the other series you might as well, it's good fun.
00 is generally solid without many glaring issues. Build Fighters is a fantastic ride that's chock full of jokes from the series. Thunderbolt's a quick must-see for a fun and exciting hour. Lastly, you might enjoy Unicorn for the UC grunt porn and the Z/ZZ suit references.
Have fun!

Thanks. I've heard good things about 00, and I like what tiny amount of Build Fighters I've seen. I'll check those out.

I've always wondered with the Stamen, isn't it much faster just to grab the saber rather than using the manipulator thing?
>>14695137
Honestly, since you enjoyed the 80s Gundam you'd probably like G-Reco. It's very retro-feeling and Tomino really worked hard on it. It's probably the best anime to air this decade so far.

Maybe, but the extra reach gives it an unexpected advantage. That's literally the only reason to use the claw.

AGE is pretty good for the first two generations.

Watch GBF and Thunderbolt.
Also, if you can handle ZZ, you should be able to find the rest of the post-2000 series at least somewhat serviceable.

That one I've heard mixed reports on. I don't know much about it, but on first glance I don't really care for the mobile suit designs. That's actually a big factor in my avoiding most modern Gundam series to date, particularly 00. Pic related I really dislike.
Thunderbolt and The Origin are must-watch. I've heard AGE and Build fighters is okay. People are really mixed on IBO, and Unicorn is fucking stupid, but it has some nice scenes.

you're missing out.

Thanks, I'll watch Thunderbolt and consider watching AGE.

I don't know what you're referencing, I just don't like that mobile suit design.
>>14695323
I wouldn't recommend AGE, it's mostly just very mediocre with some low points. The mecha design was pretty good though.

I use to be the biggest hater of 00's designs, but believe me the lineart doesn't do them justice. Seeing them in animation makes you appreciate the designs a lot more. I love your pic related a lot actually, but yea, it looks awkward and shitty in the lineart. (I.e compare the lineart of the Rx-78-2 with its animation)

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a more cringe-inducing Gundam character than Graham.

I thought he was hilarious. He was basically Char's distilled sense of rivalry and pride, and then some.
