What are the best mech-transports you've seen and which is your favorite?
My favorite has to be the LAAT/c
Just a goddamn future Sky-Crane, just strap that mech to the underside and we'll drop it off when we get near enough.
Space Carriers are pretty cool toolthough not as cool as FUTURE SKY-CRANE
>>14691210
I always thought the regular LAAT was way smaller than the c-variant. Was I wrong or is the c-variant just massively bigger?
>>14693542
According to Wookieepedia the regular LAAT is about 17 meters in length while the LAAT/c is 28 meters.

Truck
Not a future-truck, not a space-truck, and sure as hell ain't no fancy-truck, but just good ol' truck
Truck is reliable, Truck is strong, Truck is Truck.

Vehicles like the Bromry flatbed there are meant to carry CAs, but usually to bases as opposed to comnbat zones, and when they do, they're not to enter them, unlike the much more capable and maneuverable Mavellics. This is supplanted by Duey support which also tends to follow CAs wherever they go. Flatbeds do not enter combat.
You can't say it has no basis, at any rate.
Beep beep!
Not even big enough for an AT.
>>14693618
>>14693622
I really dig how this future helicopter just has a UH-1 bolted on for the cockpit
>>14693674
If you wish you can replace it with the ZiS
>>14693703
Dougram is a little less of "the future" so much as something like twenty minutes into it.
Besides the CAs the most futuristic things I can think of are the space warp and the hovercraft, and conventional hovercraft at that.
Dueys kicked ass.
And the Mavellick.
Have you not watched Dougram? If that is so, I'd encourage anyone to give it a try.
This is an acceptable design
>>14691210
>>14693127
I'm a Space Carrier man, and no Carrier is as sexy as the Ra-Cailum.
I always like AC's storks, just because they look to fat to fly, let alone carry a mech.
>>14691210
For transport aircraft, I quite like the slanted overhang wing design. Don't know why, but the aesthetic appeals to me.
I haven't seen it done with true mecha yet, but >>14693664 reminded me of the Saunder's Glider Team
I want to see glider-delivered mecha

Good news buddy - watch Dougram
>>14695854
My man.
>>14695804
The aircraft can fly on its own power so it doesn't need rotors to stay airborne.

>What are the best mech-transports you've seen and which is your favorite?
Best choice (land).
>>14696248
Doesn't really transport mechs, does it?
>>14696248
No, just infantry.
For mechs, I think unicorn's garencieres is already a good one: simple and different.
Mortar Headd dorreys are pretty sweet.
Way more stylin' than L-Gaim's Works on which they're based
When was the last time Super Sentai featured a special vehicle to transport their robot components?
>>14695598
Ah, yes, 40k.
The franchise of tanks that carry other tanks.
Labor's transports are always a solid choice. They're basically just trucks but I think that's half the appeal, they're just massive trucks with hydraulics on them to lift the mechs up.
>>14698482
Is there a trailer with an actual cover? Seems odd to leave it open to the elements.
>>14700241
There is a dust tarpaulin they use, other wise they are indoors in the hanger.

The Germans tried loading tanks on trucks as well, but they dropped it so hard that all that's left were two photos from a parade and a handful of documents that hinted at such unit's former existance.

WEAK.
RUSSIA STRONK.
>>14697206
I was pretty happy when I found that Battletech has huge ass cargo hovercrafts as well.
>>14702511
That didn't actually work
>>14700664
I don't think those hold missiles, probably just cargo space or compartments for the engines.
>>14702499
It's not so much they dropped it as they started building bigger tanks.
Trucks work fine for your dinky Panzer I, but not so fine for actual tanks like the III and IV
>>14702572
>>14702511
What did they expect from the lunatic who promoted this?

>When was the last time Super Sentai featured a special vehicle to transport their robot components?
It was Machine Buffalo from Liveman.
In my opinion, Shuttle Base from Changeman is the best: mega bulk military carrier with space shuttle format (and the OST was amazing as well).

>>14709794

>>14707586
Dat noseart
>>14700664
storks were used for hauling AC's and savaging gear, so basically its all cargo space, but they can be fitted with weapon systems (and they were annoying to fight)
does this count or is it cheating?
>>14710859
Where's the engine?
>>14711587
in the center likely, a compact engine likely and reroutes the power to the roaters
similar to the engines found in AC's, but since there's less other parts for energy consumption there's more power for flight

I have always liked the Eva-transports for some reason. Maybe it is just that opening short, which is bit eerie.
Helicopters ftw!
>>14718017
Maybe I'm just blanking out, but I do not remember these. What episode are they from?
>>14696057
please do not try to justify this shitass design
>>14720552
End of Evangelion.
>>14720863
Ah, that's why I don't remember them, I never saw them in the first place.
Always surprised by how conventional they make these "crane-helicopters"
In real life they're literally just the cockpit, engine, and rotors, nothing more.
>>14722643
Yeah but then you get to something like the Mi-26 which is a gigantic fat fuck of airlifting goodness.
Seriously that fucker is gigantic. Not so much a helicopter as it is a cargo plane with rotary wings.
>>14720856
It's part of the charm
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zd9a39sScYQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Not the best, not my favorite. But I can definitely appreciate using aircraft to carry a monster mech rather than have Kiryu devote fuel or power to flying itself into battle.
>>14723730
don't mind me, just newfagging.
It was a clip of Kiryu from Godzilla against Mechagodzilla III getting dropped by planes

I liked the method of transport and dropping in for the soldiers in "Edge of Tomorrow" the wire attached to the ships and being dropped right in seemed cool
"mobile army plane"

Given the number of casualties, it seems pretty stupid to me.

I've always had a soft spot for the 2005D "Whale" transport.
>>14725058
These never made much sense to me. If the engines in the wing tips are so powerful to lift such an mess, why not make a more goddamn efficient cargo design?
Can't go wrong with the good ol Cheyenne
>>14727723
Hence why Bungie made a blatant tribute to it.
>>14728157
A passing reflection at best.
>>14725785
My nigga
>>14727723
It's pretty great.
Though I still can't wrap my head around how the queen alien fit inside the rear landing strut bay. It must've looked really awkward and uncomfortable squished in there with the landing gear.
>>14729830
>>14720864
why not? some of the best action sequences in the entire franchise are in it.
>>14722652
the mi-26 has a partial lifting body. crane helicopters do not.
One is designed for static pull, the other is designed for high capacity over a flight duration.
>>14727516
>Engines
>Not repulsorlifts
Anon do you even nerd?
>>14693127
Why do all space carriers in Gundam have catapults? Those are absolutely pointless in Zero-G, especially when they make all fighters/mobile suits sitting ducks. Full Frontal was able to lock onto them as they slowly accelerated off the deck in Unicorn without any issue.
>>14731269
Because despite what you think, they are quite useful in Zero-G
What would you rather, the MS spend some of its fuel to reach high speed or the Ship spend its fuel to push the MS to high speed so the MS has more fuel to spare?
>>14731269
>Catapults
>useless in Zero-G
Using a Newtype magically awesome rival character as an example of why they're bad isn't fair.
>>14695598
Stormbird is better.
>>14725058
Better picture.
>>14733374
What's the thing on the left?
A no-model, lore-only?
>>14731250
Is a repulsorlift not an engine?
>>14735718
It has a model, for a far smaller version of the standard Warhawk VI Stormbird pictured above.
>>14737456
No its an antigravity lift mechanism that provides no propulsion in and of itself, Repulsorlifts in their most basic form only serve to keep something off the ground like most traditional anti-grav devices and are not tied into the engines of a vehicle in any way.
What if my transport IS the mech ?
I should find better picture of this monster
>>14738687
LOTO!!!
>>14707586
God damn I wanted this so bad when it came out. Four-hundred-fucking-dollars though if I recall. Might have been $300.
>>14709794
Every time I see Fortress Balaam carried like this in EDF it hypes me up
>>14715675
there is no argument to be made, it is stupid and always was stupid, and always will remain stupid, like almost everything about, in and from PR.
>>14738705
Loto is a transport?
>>14739373
It's a fancy APC.
So under-appreciated it's actually pretty tough to find a decent screencap of it. The Tower from Shin Getter Armageddon.
Front Mission also had some pretty good Wanzer transports. The truck in Darrils story of 4 being a bit noteworthy.
>>14739373
It's somehow has room for personnel, despite being much smaller that MS, yes
>>14729830
>>14729844
>They redraw some Tiberium concept art for Destiny promo images.
>They straight up rip-off C&C3 Orca design.
How many people working on this were freshly laid off from EA, again?
>>14743107
>Ripping off C&C
>Not: Reusing the basic designs of the flying human vehicles from their previous game
Seriously did anyone else NOT fucking notice these things and some of the jumpships wouldn't look out of place as UNSC equipment?
>>14743069
>It's somehow has room for personnel, despite being much smaller that MS, yes
If you built the model, you'd know it has a huge ass backpack that's probably specifically for the Operators to ride around in.
>>14698482
I do prefer the movie and TV show's more built up design for the labor carrier but there's something charming about the OVA1 approach of it just being a flat tray that it rests on with some restraints poking out of the bottom.
>>14745219
Bunch of armor designs could easily be variant helmets from the Halo series too
I'm super curious what Destiny would've been like if it had been a fantasy game
>>14729197
He may mean in role, usage and the way that they're treated in the setting.
>>14745651
>If you built the models
FTFY since the HGUC is a two-pack
>>14748287
Well YES, but it's the same model twice over.
Waist and "Backpack" have a tendency to fall out though.
I customized mine by giving one both Mega Vulcans and the other both Shoulder Machine Guns.
If I ever get around to buying a HGUC Zaku Ground War Hard Graph or GM Sniper K9 kit, I'll then have soldiers to deploy out of them!
