Funnily enough the show that was brought to the west as "Ninja Resurrection" that has the same reputation (but this time over people mistakently believing it's related to Ninja Scroll so at least there's some explanation) is also based on an Ishikawa manga

I doubt that. If he hated Ishikawa, he wouldn't have checked out Majuu Sensen.

Okay, I finally figured out what you meant by Ninja Resurrection, and you're wrong.

The Makai Tensho OVA has nothing to do with Ken Ishikawa's manga other than the fact that they both adapt Yamada's Makai Tensho novel.
