I actually liked the Adam warren comic, first thing I read about the universe, but I can see that is not perfect, and that Warren is the real slim shady /m/.

2040 was a transition piece for that period on anime and it's a must watch for fans of the series.

Parasite dolls has good animation.

Crash can painful to watch, and the game it's like Snatcher done wrong, good art of course. but you go around pestering people as Nene.

The manga is incredible and I don't know, why people don't talk about it more often.

The AD Police manga is a sequal to the OVA. I think it's supposed to be an adaption of the OVA episodes that would have been made if it weren't for the Artmic-Youmex lawsuit. And since both the ADP manga and BGCrash had the image of a boomer head emerging from a building, I suspect that was supposed to have been the big climax of Bubblegum Crisis as a whole. After the original BGC OVAs were canceled, the production team tried to publish the "boomer fusing with a building" idea any way they could.

I liked 2040, but I can understand the problems you people have with it.

The original had this style to it, and they used some not good enough coloring and design, the city doesn't look menacing or claustrophobic, like it did previously and that it's 90% of the cyberpunk feeling.

Genom wasn't tragically incompetent in hte 90s though. Rogue boomers where far fewer in between and any that do could be written off as mere aberrations or blamed on a third party. What's more because the city was so clean you could see why the people would be more willing to have faith in genom. In the OVA they where basically just Weyland yutani-Tyrell-Umbrella inc.-Disney. An Evil corporation for the sake of an evil corporation isn't really better.

I do agree that's it not as CYBER punk but I also don't think it was necessarily trying to be.

I think the main problem was the new look of things, the OVA was scary and depressing, corporations not being obviously evil, doesn't add nothing new or interesting, but it's more of a 90s thing, Genom was the ultimate evil corporation even more than Lex Corp, also the designs weren't ground breaking like they were on the original.

Genom wasn't evil for the sake of beign evil, it just turn out that way cause everything in that world was fucked up, 2040 genom it's almost nothing, I remember than the same revelation, that you has on those manga pages, about genom causing the earthquake, wasn't as interesting and that was a major plot point.

The problem with BGC: Hard Metal Guardians isn't that there weren't fewer anime about high school students in the 80s, it's that this book turns characters who used to be grown women into high school students, the characters are cliches (Sylia is an EGL oujo and Linna is her maid?), and characters who used to be gaijin living in Japan now have Japanese surnames and black hair.
