>no animated adaptation has ever gone further than the introduction of Gigantic, which is only barely a third of the story
>after a certain point, scanlated volumes are a bitch and a half to get a hold of because Guyver Advocacy exists and subninjas anyone who tries to upstage them
Being a Guyver fan is suffering.
Yep.
>>14651545
could be worse.
could be a berserk fag
How long is the guyver manga actually? I think they already translated 186 chapters and it's still going on.
>>14651545
Mangafox has had the full volumes of the available books 1-29 uploaded ( the last few were kind of an incomplete mess before). Which means only books 30-32 are "missing" from the translations.
So if anyone else wants to try, they don't have all that much...
>subninjas anyone who tries to upstage them
Wtf? Quit making stuff up.
>>14651545
All I know about Guyver is that Solid Snake played him in the second movie. Where is a good starting point?
>>14651545
the ninjas work for no man, only for themselves
>>14651757
Currently sitting at 199 in the manga... But the Chapter and Volume chapters are different.
But the chapter number seems to be the first few chapters of Book 30, a chapter or two after Japan-Legends last public release, when that one guy did a couple chapters, but dropped it.
>>14651816
Correction, we're 2 chapters after book 32, so "201" essentially.
But it is now on Hiatus, for an unknown time.
>>14651795
The 1989 OVA is generally the thing that most people in the West remember when someone says "Guyver."
There was a longer anime in 2005-ish that's pretty solid as well, taking the story a bit further and making Lisker/Guyver II more of an important villain.
The 1986 OVA/movie is okay, but a bit dated and is a mostly original adaptation. It does feature a very famous tentacle rape scene though.
Why do we like Guyver so much?
>>14652682
Homage to classic series like Kamen Rider and Devilman that's been marketed as ultra-violence.
Do Guyver videogames exist?
>>14652793
Somebody asked about this a little while back.
As far as I could tell by googling the moonrunes of "guyver game", no, there isn't.
>>14652682
Because it's the new face of ultra-violence
>>14651699
>Guyver
>in serialization since 1985
>186 chapters released with shitloads of them being just summaries of the story so far
>single group ransom with a completely anal scanlation group
>Berserk
>in serialization since 1989
>345 chapters released
>popular as fuck, you can count on a translation surfacing somewhere a few days after the raws are out
How is being a Berserk fan worse?
>>14652900
Miura's schedule.
Also CGI Guts and pals - the animation.
Mostly though, Berserk fans are a noisy bunch.
>>14652682
>protagonist diest in the first 5 chapters to a guy with more experience, even with his own OP suit
>>14652930
What? The experienced guy was killed by his own suit. Protagonist was killed by a pudgy old executive turned into a poisonbear as punishment who suicide bombed him.
>>14652900
Boat
>>14652793
Goddamn, we need a Guyver Musou
Apparently, this is a thing:

Lisker died because Guyver II was damaged and he hesitated long enough for Sho to get in a lucky shot.
Enzyme was specifically designed to kill Guyvers and fucked Sho up.
Still sad that the 2005 animu stopped where it did.
Maybe Guyver will at one point get the JoJo-treatment.
>>14654037
>Maybe Guyver will at one point get the JoJo-treatment.
Yet we don't know when will that happen.
It will probably be a decade later. Or never. Or some time after the manga is finally complete.
>>14654469
>a decade later
Still in our lifetimes!
...right?
>>14651699
At least Berserk is somewhat relevant with the recent movies, tv series and video game. The whole world doesn't give a shit about Guyver.
>>14654536
Yeah, but at this point some people will loose interest and even drop anime for good.
>>14652793
There are supposedly is a pair of fan made rpg maker games out there but who knows if either are any good.
>>14654010
I give less credit to Enzyme's design for winning that fight than to Genzo just plain hating Sho enough to push his shitty body that would be dead in days no matter what beyond all expectations for it and keep fighting with half his brain blown out.
>>14654574
I understand it's really just to look cool, but what was the purpose of that? Venting heat? It always seemed to happen after a Guyver had been fighting for a while or if they fired the Mega Smasher.
>>14653540
dem submitted and bookmarked pics tho
>>14656170
jesus christ how horrifying.jpg
>>14654805
Might be as simple as him breathing hard?
Plus iirc Guyver does some improbable things to his respiratory system.
>>14656237
You're right.
The Guyver unit isn't just a suit. It shifts organs and bones around or even completely removes them to best accommodate the armor's anatomy, particularly the Mega-Smasher. A Guyver's "lungs" when bio-boosted are actually the thing situated at the top of the sternum with tubes leading up to under the chin.
>>14654805
I've always looked at it as a way of ventilating extreme amount of heat, cause it only happens when he does EXTREME shit and the Head Cannon sucks up small amount of excess heat to fire.
>>14656292
Do you wear the Guyver suit... Or does the Guyver wear you?
>>14656722
It's in charge but mostly lets you drive unless you pass out or the central processing clitoris is damaged.
>>14656800
Puts a hole new meaning to the phrase "Jesus take the wheel."
>>14656722
It assimilates everything but your brain
>>14656846
So the suit does make the man, after all.
>>14656846
At least it unassimilates everything afterwards.
Except for your clothes.
>>14659128
That only counts for Guyver IIF in the manga because her unit is manmade and imperfect.
>>14659201
Is she still alive?

here senpai, it is as close as you are going to get.
>>14659222
Better version of it.

As far as I'm aware, she is. Takaya was apparently always disappointed with how quickly he killed off Lisker/Guyver II (not even halfway through the first volume) since he was such a big deal within the context of the story.
Adding Valkyria/Guyver IIF was likely a response to that and Valcuria's popularity from the original OVA.
>>14661871
Didn't Lisker make some sort of return?
>>14654564
I don't know, Ushio & Tora somehow managed to get a new anime, despite the manga having ended years ago. Parasyte had even less than that, and got an anime anyway, so you never know what gets adapted next these days.
>>14662236
Valkyria is Oswald Lisker's niece, I think, and has the same last name. He probably showed up in a flashback sequence or two, since the manga seems to be so fond of them.
>>14659201
Holy shit - this is a figure that exists?
>>14662754
slowpoke.tiff
There's also an OVA version.
>>14662778
I am even more excited now - thank you anon!
