Everyone compared 8th MS team to Vietnam, but I just don't see it. Yes it takes place in roughly the same area of asia so it's jungle fighting, but the parallels mostly stop there.

For one, the feddies aren't fragging their own COs in record numbers when told to go into dangerous situations.

08th MS Team: the watershed. Scorsese, Stone, Coppola, etc. It's "gritty" and "real"
Stardust Memory: the Michael Bay effect. We don't like movies that challenges our conventions but we do like "gritty" and "real" explosions! Top Gun, etc.
