I'd probably have to agree with this.

I feel like Setsuna's and Lockon's dynamics weren't exactly explored upon greatly, but got enough for you to feel a bit bummed about his death.

Orga and Mika is a just fucked situation and kinda boring. No true bonds were shown other than "we grew up together and it was rough".

SEED may as well be all about Athrun and Kira, so you actually know their relationship pretty well. I think that's really among the few best things about SEED, considering it's something so core to series and was touched on heavily.

They knew at least as early as episode 14 (which shows the baby Kira and Cagalli being held by their mother scene, even if it wouldn't be explained for a very long time) and the openings clearly showed that KiraXLacus and AthrunXCagalli were the focused pairings.

So I doubt it was throw in. They had to have known going in.

Yeah, it was weird. It felt like Kira and Cagalli had the best chemistry, and it seemed to be portraying her as a love rival to Flay for a while, even though the OPs were clearly shipping Kira/Lacus and Athrun/Cagalli the whole time
