Everyone gathered there because this was Harmony Gold's yearly wake-up call and were telling everyone through Facebook and Twitter that they would have brand new up-to-date information on the franchise, including an interview with one of the producers of the movie. And yeah, everyone was excited, and since they were all handed free posters at the door everyone was thinking "Ho-shit something big, guys!".

Turns out, the producer didn't show and all they had was a pre-recorded from of the guy talking about how the script to the film was in the "final draft" stage and had nothing else to say. Hell, even the brand new VF-1 toys that were put on display were broken.

Uh, no, not really. He never fought any of the defense fleet for one. His plan for re-entry was to shut down all power, hide inside a falling satellite and hope it worked. They literally say that luck is necessary for it to work.

He also didn't take on the Macross alone, since Sharon explains to Myung that she wants to give him the gift of a thrill. Combine that with the fact that the Macross shoots wildly in every direction instead of aiming at him specifically and that all shots cease as soon as he falls asleep under Sharon's spell and it's pretty apparent she was never trying to hit him, never mind kill him. Only give him the impression he was in danger by aiming close to him.

Isamu had balls to fly right in to the Macross as well as try the defense net plan and skill to fly the YF-19 since trying had defeated several previous pilots, but he didn't take on any of those things alone. The whole UN Spacy Fleet was also busy trying to fight the defense net and never even noticed him, never mind fought him.

A show is built on a lot of aspects, a certain aspect becoming more prominent in a sequel means it has become something different which may appeal less to certain fans. Same way plus goes more military, a show with a bigger idol focus where they have now amped their power to actually be able to fight even if based on ideas from older shows may have gone in one direction for some.

Frontier had pretty much the same pacing issues in its second half that Delta does. 20 was its big oh shit episode, and five episodes left, we had really no development of the Vajra and a boatload of conspiracies and other things that were undeveloped. That doesn't change until 22 and 23 which were both exposition dumps, followed by 24 that's a setup for the finale, then the finale that rushes a conclusion on all fronts while being jam packed ep with songs and action.

And I'm someone who bought and own all 9 of the frontier BD's, 'spensive as fuck as they were to get.

The thing with Delta is that all (and i really mean EVERYONE) of the characters are 'meh". They do not make you cheer, to root for them, you just do not care at all for anyone (Mirage being the embodiment of this situation). That and the lack of proper OMGWOAHWTFBBQ moments is killing the show for me. Also the plot is - at this point - is "too so-so" for a Macross sequel.

Haha, what a joke anon. Ikenai Borderline and Love! Grow Thunder are the two damn good songs that have come out of Delta so far. Frontier, comparatively, had Northern Cross, Diamond Crevasse, Pink Monsoon, Lion, Triangler, Infinity, Universal Bunny, Obelisk, and the list goes on.

Delta's music has been collectively underwhelming.

To be fair, I feel the same on the Frontier sentiment. Triangler, Lion, and Northern Cross are the only ones I really remember.

However, I can say the same for Delta. I downloaded some of the Walkure singles and I forgot half of these songs existed except for The OPs, Hametsu no Junjō and Rune ga Pikatto Hikarittara.

They're all kinda hit or miss though, with the exception of Hamestu no Junjō because I really dig the arrangement at the least.

I find 7 to be the one with worst pacing since as with shows of its era, you just got to have half the series spent on 'filler' enemy of the week type.

I like Delta, but I have to say it has a lot of the same problems as IBO. Subdued pace, lack of action, melodrama out the ass, way too much exposition, etc. But I'd have to say, those problems aren't as bad in Delta's case and I do like the characters more. Maybe it's because that while they are simple, they aren't the cardboard cutouts IBO had.
