I have a question to experts and specialists in the Gundam. How many arms and ammunition carried MS as standard?

Varies wildly from suit to suit, and even further based on situation, circumstance, etc.
Usually you have at least one or two ranged weapons and a melee weapon, for instance the base RGM-79 GM is always equipped with head vulcans, beam saber, and usually a shield, with primary armament varying.

Well, besides his two main ones a mobile suit can have as much as six arms.

Typically? Primary ranged weapon plus a shield and one or two melee weapons. Mag-loaded weapons carry anywhere from two to four extra magazines as standard with the average magazine holding between 50~120 rounds of ammunition or minovsky particles.

Most units also have a secondary ranged weapon hardmounted to the chassis, some have a primary or heavy weapon hardmounted as well.

Most units can equip a heavy weapon and up to two reloads.

Mobile Armor tend to only carry hardmounted weapons and in large amounts.

Mobile Weapons tend to be designed around their primary weapon or utility function.

In the OYW most MS had 1 primary weapon with maybe 2-4 reloads worth of mags, and 1 melee weapon. That was pretty much it. The beam spray gun could be recharged over time using the GM's reactor. The beam rifle I believe needed to be recharged at base (?).

The Zaku's classic MG had 100 rounds per drum. The GM rifle I think had a 25 round mag (like a FAMAS) and the MP-whatever that Dom has pictured had 30.

Bazookas get something like 5 shots per magazine I think?

They can even crush a Zaku between their thighs.

What do you think about the approach to armaments in the Thunderbolt, I mean the highest possible hanging all that can shoot?

And if we are dealing with are not standard equipment, for example in the case of ace pilot?

As far as I know it can also recharge off of the MS reactor but because of the power used per shot it took much longer to charge.

Depends on the bazooka.

They had single shot ones that you see zakus carrying around.

they had mag fed ones like the kamfers.

they had the ones that doms use which hold multiple rounds, but I don't know if they can be reloaded in the filed.

and a few more mag fed ones lieing around.

The federation had the gundam's bazooka which holds multiple rounds. and another model that you sometimes see gm's use which also holds multiple rounds.

Feds also had 3 models of machine guns floating around. they all carry a similar amount of rounds if I recall.

Zaku's had 3-4 rifles also. the standard drum machine gun that gets upgraded throughout the war. a magazine fed machine gun. a larger magazine fed machine gun that the zaku fz uses. and the strange drum machine gun that zaku 1's carry around

Your pictures are a good point of reference. A Zeon ace might have one heavy weapon (bazooka), a machine gun on their back under the pack, and if we're feeling fancy maybe two of the one-shot panzerfausts (3 is a little excessive), and then the melee weapon. This would of course limit the amount of ammo that they could carry on the two main weapons though. Also I think Zakus and Goufs can get 2x tube missile launchers on their lower legs. Kind of an older modification though.

Federation aces don't load up as much. They tended to just get higher performing suits. With beam weapons being common for them, and endogenously rechargeable, they didn't need to load up on tons of ammo or heavy equipment and they were still very deadly. Beyond the OYW, they might get add-ons like what you see on the GM III or the Stark Jegan.

There are also apparently MS grenades, but you almost never see that biz. I have no idea when the sick javelin-esque potato mashers they use in Unicorn were invented.

The Psycho Zaku and Full Armor Gundam were meant for ace pilots and would often be given mission roles where they would operate longer than the standard unit (FAG - destroy as much shit as you can and ruin enemy grounding in the area, Psycho Zaku - take down the FAG no matter the cost). Even when you look at the TB Rick Dom, Zaku, and GM, much of their bulk is only from the backpacks and extra thrusters. Their on-board armament is nowhere near the same amount as the FAG or Psycho Zaku. Even the Gelgoog was fairly minimal in terms of weaponry.

The GM was the first feddie MS to have beam charging on the suit via a mounting rack on the hip armor. Not all of them even had such a feature though. It was also so inefficient it was only useful outside of battles.

The Gundam has the reactor output to do so but it can't replenished used up megaparticles. I guess the power delivery isn't robust enough or the beam rifle doesn't have the proper equipment for it?

By Gryps most MS could recharge their particles quickly. The marasai can supposedly recharge its beam rifle as quickly as its rate of fire.

>>14636826
Exactly. If you keep reading the TB manga you'll see most often the extra arms are just used to hold the primary weapon while a melee weapon is used, for example; not to equip tons of extra guns and shoot them at the same time. Maybe the author/artist thought this was a more sensible design than attaching the weapon to rear skirt armor, not sure.

The one extra thing is they do give most space GMs that same dual-barrel beam arm-aligned rifle the FAG has, just on the GM's left arm... but this is only in the manga.

In high budget shows they have dozens of weapons
In low budget shows they have one

From this point of view, an interesting question arises about the sniper modifications. Is there a sense in MS equipment and large-caliber long-range weapons or easier to use standard heavy weapons in large numbers?
>>
>>14640636
Not sure what you mean by "is there a sense"?

Sniper MS are relatively rare. Heavy weapons would have been bazooka and cannon type MS. What would be the difference between "large-caliber long-range weapons" and "standard heavy weapons"? Sounds like a bazooka or 170~180mm cannon would fit into both roles, for example.
