Speaking seriously you could soften it a little by having the main (Gundam) Federation lose any control of Deloyer due to the chaos of the OYW and other mecha series plots causing them to focus everything closer to home

Basically have its plot occur due to the chaotic upheaval leaving them separated from the homeworld.

Ironically unrealistic. It's very possible to cause an instantly fatal brain hemorage with a "light" tap (considering we're talking about kilograms of soft metal being flung from 3-6 stories)

It also strikes her squarely in the back of her skull, the real fuck-up is that the shell should be rolling away rather than towards.

My favorite death in mecha is Sayuri's death at the end of Dancouga. She's riding home on a dildo-shaped spaceship all smug about Shapiro's death when suddenly Dancouga comes out of nowhere and bumps into her on its way to Zorbados, causing her ship to explode. The funniest part of it all is that the pilots don't even react to it. It's like they didn't even notice that they accidentally killed a major villain.
