The movie also skipped the ending where Sopp shows Lachesis the creepy-ass Jagd Mirage skeleton and they both talk about the inevitable wars that will eventually occur. I thought that was an even bigger part to skip because it really sets the tone for FSS as opposed to the movie's more shoujo ending.

Personally I love it. What I love is its low-key nature. The FFS movie, and the first arc itself, isn't really about fighting. At its core, FSS is a traditional love story with epic trappings. Sopp is a good guy whom I couldn’t help but root for, innocent and kind despite what his real identity would suggest. He could’ve taken Lachesis easily using his power and authority, but he did it the hard way. You’d almost forget that he’s royalty, until he’s forced to reveal his true splendor and might.

Honestly speaking, what makes me love this movie so much is Wakamoto's subtle performance. I would prefer that Wakamoto voice more Coach/Reuental roles that don’t require him to do that super-rumbly voice and instead focus on actual voice-acting. You don’t hear him like this often, because he’s too shoehorned into villain/batshit-insane roles nowadays.

Sopp had been the mum for pretty much all of Queen's younger sisters and ultimately it was Lachesis who decided to pursue him. It's a decision neither Ballanche nore Sopp were comfortable with though. Sopp because he raised them and because he was still hung up on his undead wife at that point and Ballanche because he really didn't want his last three daughters to get fucked up like that. Laki by his own hands and on her own request even.

No, Sopp was born genderless but would switch between male and female as he grew up and learned how to behave like a human. He was a young boy when his fiance died, then he switched into a female and met Ballanche, after establishing the Mirage Knights he switches back to being male like we know him now. Amaterasu is Sopp, but Amaterasu has effectively no gender, being God and all, even though he declares himself as a male for public appearances.

I love how the manga has this constant showing of escalatingly powerful swordsmen showing in bumfuck nowhere because they where in a mission or,even better, disguised as some kind of doofus
Like, there's a chapter of Fatimas suffering, then the melodramatic appearance of this dude who is revealed to be the Knight Holy Sword of Whothefuckcaresopolis, master of the teleports behinds you technique, who happened to have his fucking overpowered mortar headd parked just right here behind an hill, ready to save the day, and maybe get a new Fatima waifu

Beside that, I especially liked the chapters centered on the common ground forces and tank crews during a battle

My favorite chapter was when that guy with his A-Toll ran away from his military division to fix his Fatima and the top dogs decided to hunt him down; the head priestess of that country sends one of her top knights with the country's most powerful ancient Mortar Headd to apparently save him, turns out that old MH used to have the rogue Fatima as its copilot before she was brainwashed for her new master, and the priestess sent the MH not to really fight, but to let the Fatima see her old robot friend one more time before she passes on.

Also the A-Toll Scritti that showed up in that chaper was awesome. It's like the FSS equivalent of the Gogg.
