My guess? The "robot" is actually a girl. And she's being cloned over and over. The head is just a helmet she wears. Then once you beat the game and leave the facility, she'll take her helmet off to show she has a porn star face or something. Then you can replay the game with her in different skimpy outfits. And by different I mean just different coloured one piece swimsuits.
