What's the most creative tactic you've seen used in the heat of a battle?
Mine is that scene from GBF where Reiji activates the beam saber while it was still in the holster.
>>
I like when Sousuke uses the Tuatha de Danaan's catapult to launch Gauron off the ship.
>>
>>14593265
Uso pulled some pretty neat stuff with the Victory. I liked when he stopped an attack from behind using his thrusters and rotated the head to fire the vulcans.

Pretty much everything Mellowlink does, which is necessary given how he's a man fighting giant robots on foot.

>Gets grabbed by a robot
>Knew it would happen
>Brought along a jack just for the occasion
>While the enemy's still shocked about it, drives his pile bunker into the bastard

>Cornered in a tar pit
>Grabs a vine and throws a knife to break something weighing it down
>Zips out of the tar pit and into the air
>Falls right over his Standing Tortoise prey
>Downwards pile bunker jackhammer stab

Mellowlink was so fucking good.

Dozens of things in Gaiking LoDM, including

> wrap Zector Hook cable around horns

> the Rollercoaster Attack

> controlling the Gaiking parts separately by slapping those fighter jets onto them

That wasn't the thrusters, those were the beam shields.

True, but halfway during the parry the Sinanju's arm posture changes and it is clearly moving the blade lower to take advantage of the ReZEL's overheating beam barrel.

>>
>>14593614
So are we arguing in favor of the crossguard saber from TFA now?
>>
>>14593643
No that stupid thing would just melt your hands.
>>
>>14593614
The beam would just melt through the crossgusrd unless it's made of more beam, which would result in a much larger beam saber design when blade slide isn't employed in most saber engagements because the parry techniques are programmed in, making mistakes nesr impossible, and sliding down the blade isn't employed very often because of the resistance making it a slower process than it would with two metal blades.

>>14593614
Big difference between a physical blade and a beamsaber.

Is ANT worth watching for the new scenes and redraws?
>>
>>14593882
If you've already seen Zeta and liked it, then sure. It's jarring when it keeps switching from old animation to new animation, but it's pretty cool seeing some scenes look as good as they do.
>>
>>14593882
>>14593901
It's only mostly jarring when the animation jumps between new and old in the first movie, really. There's way more new footage in the 2nd, and almost no old footage in the 3rd.
That said I enjoyed watching it for the new animation, but yeah, you should only really watch it if you've already seen Zeta, otherwise you're missing out on some chunks of the show and you get a very different ending.

>>
>>14594579
He pilots without prejudice of thinking this is how a mobile suit should move. I always thought that was one of the advantages of him being a kid. Personally, I'm always going to find him a wasteful pilot because of the way he treated victory parts. He's way too happy to sacrifice parts (mostly legs) of his multi million dollar machine to get a job done.
>>
>>14593556
Wait, what's going on in this one? How does he form a net with the beam sabers?
>>
>>14594640
Weren't they mass producing those parts by the end? I don't think they were that hard to make. Might as well use what you've got.
>>
>>14594640
>>14594647

The sad fact of the matter is Uso was producing more results wasting Victory parts than actual living pilots were with their Victory suits.

Beam crossguards have been around since 0083 with the GP01. EF just cheaped out on the ReZEL, probably because beam saber duels are generally a rare occurrence.
>>
>>14593265
Domon Kasshu becoming ten Gundams to counter Chibodee's attack.
Forget "thinik outside the box", Domon thinks outside the laws of reality.
>>
>>14594579

Well Loran made beam shields out of beam sabers by spinning the hands through 360 degrees at speed and did the trick of elongating a beam saber for a strike by putting two in proximity as well - though that one doesn't depend on non-human movement. It didn't work in his case either, since he was fighting the Turn-X, which just separated into segments in an Open Get manner. I think Kamille might have done it too.

Uso was a late more creative and willing to abuse the non traditional movement of suits, but he isn't the only one to ever do it. I'm sure there's other small examples of pilots doing things like beam spins too.
>>
>>14594647
They were mass producing them from the start at least to the point where it was encouraged to sacrifice the parts if it meant avoiding getting killed.
>>
>>14594714
Seabook definitely used the beam saber spinning when he was fighting the bugs.
>>
>>14594695

Very few individuals in any given series have the aptitude to duel with a beam saber to the point where specialized dueling techniques are required. Even the deadliest pilots in Gundam history don't really have noteworthy beam dueling skills to speak of.
>>
>>14593614
When beam sabers clash in Gundam they are actually locked in place. Usso uses that gimmick to make a boomerang out of his two sabers once. Can't find the gif for it though.
>>
>>14595464
Its already in this thread
>>
>>14594642

he linked the beams of two trident/fan beam saber types to make a wide net, I guess it worked due to it being the same frequency
>>
>>14593335
Adding to this, FACE OPEN THE GREAT

Gaiking the Great holds down the enemy, then partially separates, and forms back into Gaiking using its own parts. Afterward, it blasts the enemy away point-blank while they're still being held down by the parts from Raiking and Vulking that are used for The Great.
>>
In Frontier's first episode, there was a part where Ozma was in melee combat with the Vajra.
They backed off and got a short distance between each other briefly, and the Vajra goes for a shot with its cannon. Ozma switches into Gerwalk just in time for the beam to just pass by on top of him.

No, sabres aren't stuck together, otherwise they would have trouble pulling them apart.

Uso can combine the beams of two different devices to achieve what he did with the makeshift beam "boomerang" and the twinned beam sabre for extra reach in >>14593582. Other than the trap with the beam javelin, he also merged the V2's Wings of Light with his arm beam shields to pull the wings forward to use as a protective "cloak" at the end of the series.
>>
>>14596076

>>
>>14596076
I think they do fuse a bit, just not with much force unless you're doing it intentionally. The point of contact between two beam sabers kind of blurs together, like the proximity is letting plasma bleed from one I-field to the other. They'd probably be "sticky" as a result, but a mobile suit's strength would normally be enough to pull them apart just fine.
>>
>>14597644

I like this idea. They should use it more.

I always liked Loran forcing a SUMO to fire off it's beam gun since the Turn-A had no gun at the time and it had to make a range attack to stop something or other. He does a couple of other creative things during battle throughout the show too, like using Gundam Hammers as leashes to stop some Muttowoos, the previously mentioned spinning beam sabers and elongated beam saber and using two beam sabers to bend light and turn invisible. Somehow. God knows how that one works.
