Every time I see this pic uploaded, there's usually at least one person wondering why there's a panoramic cockpit in a Zaku, but don't consider that she's probably just piloting a NZ MS. There's nothing to indicate that Miku herself is piloting a Zaku.

The cockpit controls and pilot suit are meant to be the same as the Kshatriya's setup, but with different colors. Of course, there's some artistic liberties taken with the pilot suit like the helmet being redesigned to have holes for the twin tails, but other details like the neck/helmet clasps being in the same place and padded torso area having the same shape.

Hull down positions have not been used since the end of the cold war. One of the reasons the coalition steam rolled through Iraq in Desert Storm is because they put all their tank in a defensive hulled down position making them easy targets. Mobility is key, especially against weapons that ignore line of sight.

Furthermore, the guncannon is actually shown getting on its hands and knees in MSG. Not quite going full prone but good enough.
