Discounting unique cases like Goranger, JAKQ, and Changeman, what exactly decides precisely how many episodes an individual Sentai show gets? Like how a bunch end at 48, but then another bunch ends at 51. Because I'm hoping Zyuohger gets at least 50.

It's mostly the number of breaks during the show. You start from 52 and then remove 1 episode per break. Zyuohger likely will a relatively low number, maybe less than 48, since it's getting a bunch of breaks due to Golf that didn't use to happen to Sentai.

I mean, what's the point of wasting the anniversary year in standard stuff? Now, you could say that before Gokaiger, the anniversary seasons were basically just like this, but after we got something bigger it's weird to go back.

Either the Red or the second in command die, later in the show they come back as the sixth (or a further extra), preferably brainwashed by the bad guys; if it's not the Red or the Blue you can even get a new color as the replacement, you basically get two rangers in one. A noble sacrifice against a powerful monster, the rest of the team coping with losing a comrade they went through the trouble of coping with, the bad guys rejoicing at their victory, having to get a replacement, having to bond with the replacement, this shit writes itself, death is so much more naturally significant in Sentai than in Rider. Killing someone could make an amazing middle arc.

Sentai needs more arc-based episodes. I find that those Sentai are the ones that I enjoy the most marathoning. I love Dekaranger because it has some of the genuinely better written individual episodes in all of Sentai, but it's a different kind of thing.

Seeing it in it's entirety means that you know Japanese because it's either those guess subs or whatever episode O-T has gotten up to.

But from what I've seen, I loved it. It has a dark-ish feel about it most of the time that I got lost in. I also liked how the monsters are dealt with in that they don't die, they just get cryogenically frozen because the monsters are actually criminals broken out by the main general who's the leader of a mafia gang who were already in cryo storage as their punishment.

Team's also pretty cool as well. The Pink is basically the shadow leader while the Red is the "leader" by happenstance. Yellow's a wrestler and Green is an alien who's also really smart. I don't remember must about Blue.

You don't even need particular episodes. Multiple evil factions or at least rotating villains should become the series standard. It's the reason why Hurricaneger and Gekiranger were so enjoyable to me, there were constant powershifts and things felt like they were developping and at risk all the time; the last arcs of Magiranger and Goseiger are goddamn amazing thanks to this, because all the previous villain groups defeated increase the scope of the story and hype up the last one, it also gives you more personalities and types for the monsters. Watching the same four guys waiting in a small room as they throw motws without long term plans gets boring and feels stagnant after a year; it's not like it's impossible to do well (early Go-Bus), but it's much simpler and less risky to have something different, because it basically prevents you from having some sort of development. I'm currently half-way through Shinkenger, and it's great, but ı want to see Doukoku do some besides drinking sake and throwing a hissy-fit for the twentieth time.

What do you think the first Red-centric Sentai series was? I'm watching Gingaman now and realizing that the focus is mostly on the Red, in a way I haven't noticed in any of the series I've watched before (since Liveman, basically). I don't get Red worship vibes (like Kyoryuger) but it feels like the beginning of that trend.
