He wasn't wrong.

If the UC timeline wasn't filled with idealistic esper children in strangely important positions armed with top-of-the-line Mobile Suits, he would have been in the right and massively successful.

Hell, if G-Reco is taken into consideration, he was only proven right.
>>
>>14580226

> G-Reco proves him right
> Living in space sucks so much one faction of Venus wants to conquer Earth, another to move back to it and one guy moved there because he thought Venutian soceity had stagnated
> Towasanga isn't much better and also wants to reconquer and move back to Earth

Yea, look at how great those Spacenoids are.
>>
>If the UC timeline wasn't filled with idealistic esper children in strangely important positions armed with top-of-the-line Mobile Suits

You mean, if it wasn't a Gundam show whose sole purpose of existence is to promote and sell colorful plastic models made by Bandai?

I agree OP, He was right.
Literally the hero of Unicorn.
What a selfless martyr.
Beautiful and pure man.
Valorous. Virtuous. Honorable.
Did absolutely nothing wrong.
God bless.

Hormonal whipped pussy who only obeyed a Gundam digging whore with traitorous blood in her and a spoiled mind raped daddy's boy ruined everything. Give me a VN where I can side with him.

DURR ITS FOR KIDS SO IT'S STUPID AND AND JUST A TOY COMMERCIAL

Remind me then why it had such a cultural impact? Why it is still around after nine hundred years?
>>
>>14580254
Because of toys that sold like hotcakes.
>>
>>14580254
To be fair, much of how Gundam is presented it because of the marketing of the toys.

It doesn't invalidate the message and themes or mean it is bad, just that it would probably have been artistically better (but not as commercially viable) if it was made a different way.
>>
>>14580254

>UC was made for adults, for the generation that watched the original Gundam and has grown up and become fathers to a new generation.

>for adults

Even worse. Thanks, Fukui.
>>
>>14580258
But plenty of stuff has sold toys, in the end there is some strange philosophy at the heart of UC Gundam
>>14580271
The point remains that something can be commercially successful and still work consistent philosophy,

Anon, Gundam wouldn't exist without the toys. Toys literally saved it. Read up on it.
>>
>>14580241
That happened precisely because the people didn't subscribe to his belief due to Newtype BS and the power of "possibility." His viewpoint was rendered obsolete by the above, and the worst case scenario came to be as a result.
>>
>>14580254
Tomino has had to repeatedly sacrifice his artistic integrity in order to get Gundam past the drawing board. That he still manages to get his message across through storytelling is a credit to how much of a genius he is.

But it still doesn't excuse the fact that Gundam is so formulaic because it needs to draw in a popular audience in the first place. If the main character wasn't an everyman teenager who somehow falls into the cockpit of the prototype Gundam and then pilots it expertly, then kids can't self-insert and wouldn't watch the show. Same for said teenager possessing psychic powers, or suddenly gaining them mid-show for no rhyme or reason. Same for the titular mobile suit being a super-advanced prototype that goes against all logic of design theory (you build a prototype as a testbed for one or two technologies and barebones the rest, not make a super-weapon that's good at everything and outperforms the mass-production models that come afterward).
>>
>>14580312

> Gravity and lack of social evolution happened because people believed in Newtypes
> It was people's belief in Newtypes BS and Possibility that rendered his nihilism obsolete, not Banana and Audrey's belief in possibility and no real concern over Newtype stuff

>Living in space sucks

Then why did the entire non-retard population of Earth hop into interstellar vessels and go set up civilisations beyond the stars?

I wonder if they were watching the events of Turn A and G Reco and laughing their asses off at the fuckwits still in the Earth Sphere.

Frontal was still wrong though, have you ever been so mad you refused to die so the ghosts of your rival and an underaged whore had to haul you off to the afterlife by force?
>>
>>14580350
The entirety of Unicorn has them chasing a 'what-if,' and Full Frontal ultimately dies because of space magic, and space ghosts talking him into giving up.

Fast forward to the end of the UC timeline and the grim future he predicted came true, all because the teenagers with their super important fighting robot, psychic powers and dreams (without so much as understanding the political landscape) HAD to win.
>>
>>14580356

> Then why did the entire non-retard population of Earth hop into interstellar vessels and go set up civilisations beyond the stars?

If they did do it then by all accounts they did it after only a few generations living in space and had no idea of the long term effects of doing so. That's if they even did it though. The only evidence they did is a manga that's probably not meant to be taken as canon in the first place and some theories regarding Turn-A's origin that may not actually be factual.
>>
>>14580249
Shut the fuck up Angelo.
>>
>>14580363

The grim future he predicted was the heat death of the universe. Nothing Banana did changed that, nor did he even want to, he only thought that life had meaning despite the fact it'd someday end.

> He's criticized by Mineva who thinks this will just lead to a reversal of position and a new war with Earth as the underdog
> At the start of G-Reco the various space factions have superseded Earth as the politic and economic superpower with centuries and imposed harsh rules upon it to prevent it ever rising up again
> Contact between the various factions is minimal and highly ritualized while the factions themselves have all stagnated and only maintain what technology and culture they do have rather than making anything new
> Ameria, one of Earth's underdog factions is gearing up to confront the space factions because they want a piece of the power pie
> It turns out most of the space factions have internal conflict and want to reconquer Earth and/or move back, because living in space long term ain't all that great

I think you have to be delusional if you don't believe that Gundam couldn't have better executed on its themes if it wasn't made to market toys as well.

Again, I agree that UC is valuable and does have philosophy and ideas that you wouldn't expect to be in an animated TV series.
>>
Where the hell was the surviving cast of Unicorn during the events of F91, Crossbone, and Victory? Banagher rants on and on about the infinite possibility of the human race and newtypes, and peace only lasts for about 20 years before nutjobs start crawling out of the woodwork to burn the planet once more. Hell, less than 10 if we include Hathaway's Flash and some of the other sidestory stuff.

Considering he's one of the top 3 Federation at A Boa Qu, he either got promoted to some job as an instructor or something at a base, or because he was suspected of being a newtype he got the Amuro treatment & was put on house arrest or something.

>>
>>14581907

As is, the events of F91 were a quick and minor conflict that took place in one Bunch of colonies and which he wouldn't have had time to help even if he'd wanted to if he didn't have the mis/fortune to be there at the time it was happening.

Crossbone, like all manga and side stories is of questionable canon at best, and Victory takes place something like 65 years later when he's an old man and hasn't almost certainly hasn't the fortitude to be fighting Zanscare if he's even still alive at that age (80 or so).

>>14581955

He explicitly says he doesn't care, since the plan is just the best way to fulfill the wishes of Spacenoids as he sees them, while he sees himself as only a vessel for Spacenoid wishes during the majority of the show. It's only in the final of the last episode when he confronts Syam Vist that he sees himself as more. He didn't truly believe in it, since it was just an answer to the problem, but he was still going to enforce it given the chance.

That's actually pretty impressive for post-OYW UC.

>>14581975
>what happens to this guy
Probably just remained in service for a few years and then retired...or just retired.

Not every badass in a war goes on to continue being a badass for the rest of his life. This isn't fucking Star Wars, here; sometimes people just want to live out the rest of their days in peace drinking cold ale on the balcony of their condo bought with their military pension. The only notable MSV/EU pilots we see that we actually know continued to fight after the OYW are Romfellow, Agar, Matsunaga, Ridden (under an alias,) and Bederstadt. Then there's Matt Healy, who retired from the military and only went back into the fray to help out Bederstadt save his daugterfu.

Same probably happened to Badger and the Daintiest Zabi; what makes you think either of these two, who just wanted to stop the bullshit surrounding Laplace's box and Zeon from being a bunch of rowdy cunts for all time. have any esponsibility to ensure the entire future of UC? Conflicts born of conditions and political machinations that have absolutely nothing to do with them are not their problem.

They were busy not existing because Unicorn was written twenty years after F91, you fucking retard. Stop trying to shoehorn everything into a single clean timeline, because it always goes to shit due to the nature of writing side-stories and prequels and interquels.

maybe he was pointing out that without killing off Banana, it made him seem like a huge douche who left humanity to die so he could fuck off into space in his green Psycorn getting road head from a princess while his buddy third-wheels all the way to Judau's newtype colony where they'll chill with the Jew Crew

Wouldn't going with Judau be innovative, due to the fact that, if humanity leaves the solar system, humanity can still live on, even without Earth.
>>
>>14583107
Judau doesn't even leave the earth sphere until after Uso gets the V2. and the trip was supposed to take a thousand years. They won't even get to Proxima Centauri until somewhere around G-Gundam or Wing.
>>
Full Frontal wasn't right in the least though.

Shifting the economic power from one location to another just makes the rich people move from the previous economic power to the next. They stay in control just with a new house, and they keep the old house too as a summer home.

In fact Full Frontal's plan would have actually helped the Federation in the long run as it would have created new opportunities, staved off stagnation, reinvigorated the market, created more jobs, and created new industries for Earth rehabilitation.

Instead we got the slow decay of the Federation while spacenoids got power and fucked everything up anyways.
