The difference with Nova Shocker and Shocker was that Shocker t ypically never followed a forward plan. There was a lot of general "pollute nad corrupt" to their schemes, but never just sticking with one plan. Nova Shocker wanted to dominate the world via economic control.

Fuckin' loved Urga all around though. Bestial combat style, great suit (both the Nova Shocker monster suits were great, reminded me of the original Rider 1 monster suits with the human eyes) and an actually memorable personality - even if my knowledge of Japanese is rusty and can't understand everything he says.

Going through the evacuated crowd, they reach the inside of the church, where they see Father O’Hara, unconscious, with a pool of blue smoke appearing in front of him.

>Alicia and Trey grab the priest, while the smoke solidifies into a being: a Restless. The Restless summons a group of Ghouls to attack Trey, telling him that he “is chosen by the Great Eye.” Trey puts up a fight, but is struck down by another Restless, and he falls, fading into fog, with nothing but the Icon remaining.

Just watched Movie Wars Genesis, and I think the people at O-T are kinda being a bit harsh on it. Sure, the time travel plot is really badly handled, but the action and stuff was pretty cool. I liked seeing the Drive cast again and that scene with the Chief dying and coming back to life while doing that little comedy skit with Sage was quite funny. They probably get along quite well behind the scenes.

Around 16ish, whenever he gets Flame Dragon. It stops being interesting, Nitou is basically the only one carrying the show outside of fights, everything is a two parter that involves the Phantom running up, doing what amounts to going "Ooga booga booga" at random people to try and make them despair, all fights in the first episode of a two parter are Haruto constantly letting Phantoms just run away while in the second part he stops them from running using a method he easily could have used in the first part and then just slaughters them, it keeps trying to make you care for Koyomi while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing with her to flesh her out at all, and the ending run is basically just constant disappointment.

The show just never goes anywhere. The rivalry with Phoenix in the first half of the show doesn't lead to anything else and then it just continues random monster and victim of the week stuff until near the ending. They also get lazy with the victims, like mentioned above, in most later episodes, the phantoms just go "the fear of death will make you despair!", rather than personal strategies. There's also the way they never succeed even once, which ends up making everything feel hollow.

The actual source I had's long gone defunct, but if I remember correctly they were designing a toku based off of Mutant Sabu, like you said, and they were having difficulties coming up with a new design. They asked Ishinomori to help and apparently he just walked up, looked over the design, and then just drew something else entirely (Inazuman) and it was immediately liked by the staff. Keep in mind, the same anecdote also said shit along the lines of "This goes to show just how genius Ishinomori is" and all that, so it might be embellishment, it might be bullshit, unfortunately this was at a time people could say anything and it'd be impossible to really "deconfirm" it without being a part of the supposed claim. Kinda like Fujioka's martial arts history.

Actually, "Samurai" as a term only came up in his acting career post-Kamen Rider, unrelated to his martial arts but more his personality.

What I meant by "martial arts history" was supposedly his father was part of an Imperial Japan black ops group or some shit that basically had the goal of "Ruin China's day in any given way" and included a particularly deadly sister martial art to Judo that's got all the usual "forbidden technique" labels all over it. Supposedly his father "retired' by calling it actual Judo and taught judo to cops as a career afterwards, until one day just bringing Fujioka to an old stone temple and training the fuck out of him in the "Forbidden" martial art that was grueling to learn, before simply leaving entirely, leaving Fujioka, his brother, and his mother on their own.

It sounds bullshit, but I wanna believe it because I like him and he's never come across as a bullshit artist to me (he does try to put his money where his mouth is, unlike a certain American Aikidoka), but eh.
