ZX existed for years as radio, magazine photo stories and merchandising. The special came at the end of the project, which is why his origin is basically told like a recap - and the whole thing in general is filled with recap scenes for the previous shows.

ZX was advertised as a potential launch pad for an actual ZX tv show - even the actor himself apparently was promised that. However, it's very likely that it was never intended to be an actual series - the ZX character had been marketed for years. It's very unlikely he'd also get a year long tv show after all that - in a time where there weren't even form changes and collectibles. No other Riders has ever been introduced in supplemental material for years and then got bumped to his own series. It's just not how it works. Giving the expectation of a future tv series was just a way to make ZX seem bigger than what he actually was.

Ryuki. Pretty much every Rider has a coherent design philosophy that makes them stand out and memorable - even Ex-Aid is just straight up "So 90s his belt sounds like Bill clinton" but you can't FORGET it.

Ryuki, on the other hand, is just plain old ugly, forgettable, and bland. And Survive doesn't help at all.

So what's everyone's favorite season other than Gaim (excluding Gaim so we get some diversity in responses)? Mine's OOO.

Oh yeah, he really "changed the whole bug eyes thing" by having the two biggest fucking red bug eyes right there. If you mean the rest, sure, I'll hand it to you, but I'm talking about Ryuki himself. I actually have to think pretty hard just to remember what the fucking dork's suit looks like half the time because it's got nothing going for it other than being a gaudy shade of red with an empty grey chestplate. And you can't even say it's a simple design, looking at the raises and accents in his actual friggin' suit shows they wanted it to be "detailed" but got lazy and didn't bother to flesh it out.

As a result, it's forgettable and doesn't stand out.

I have to agree. His suit is my least favorite of the Hesei era.

I love Ryuki and his character is among my favorite mains ever. However, the other mirror Riders pulled of the aesthetics way, WAY better. His suit is just so plain, and not in a good way and his eyes feel forced into the design.

ok, I just finished 555 and I have some questions.

Firstly, how the fuck did anyone watch this weekly. There are cliffhangers at the end of almost every episode, yet pretty much nothing happens in the rest of the ~15 minutes. It's worse than Ghost when it comes to pacing and that's saying a lot.

Secondly, what the fuck was with Kusaka randomly calling Mari the woman that could be his ???MOTHER??? in one episode then no one ever bringing this up again, also they're all pretty much fine with Kusaka in general after that? If anything, Kusaka starts off not rly caring about Takumi and Takumi starts out hating him, but by the end, Kusaka hated Takumi and Takumi... seemed to kinda like him? Just, generally, Kusaka, what the fuck. The whole Macbeth thing was great though. Actually, Kusaka in general was great. Like, awful person (though not as murdery as I was expecting, more of a Shijima Gou prototype but more gossipy), but a fantastic character. Definitely one of the most memorable KR characters I've experienced so far and I've only got Kuuga, Ryuki and Agito to go out of Heisei.

Thirdly, who the FUCK thought that final boss was a good idea. Seriously.

Lastly, not a question but stay gold, ponyboy.

The official TV-Asahi Kamen Rider Ex-Aid website has unveiled the staff for the upcoming series that celebrates the franchise's 45th anniversary.
The series will be produced by Toei's Takahito Ohmori (Kamen Rider Drive, Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger) and TV-Asahi's Sasaki Motoi, who will also serve as the show's chief producer. Writing the series is Yuya Takahashi (Eight Ranger, Lupin III Part 4), making this his first major tokusatsu project. Takahashi previously wrote Kamen Rider Drive's Type Tokujo specials. Finally, serving as the series' head director is Shojiro Nakazawa (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Kamen Rider Wizard).

Gonna blog for a bit here, but I finished my first Rider series, W, a few days ago. I loved it up until episode 35 or 36, when Terui Ryu got Accel Trial, at which point I felt it lost a lot of steam. I watched Amazons right after it and I really enjoyed it as well, I thought it was pretty interesting, if short. Heard there's going to be a season 2 so I'm looking forward to that.
Now I'm on OOO, three episodes in, and it's kind of fun so far. The OOO suit design looks pretty cool, but the belt noise is really obnoxious with the TA TO BA singing. The bike is also really unremarkable.
